en Linetester – Release Notes V4.0.7

Release Notes
Compatibility

 Linetester firmware V4.0.7 is compatible to all existing HW versions of the linetester FDUL221.
See operating manual (doc. nr. 008250) for more details.
 Linetester firmware V4.0.7 is compatible to the PC Linetester Tool >= V2.0.3.

Changes in the FDUL221 Firmware for V4.0.7 (compared to V3.6.3)

 Two firmware images are now available: Standard (ST) and Electrician (EL)
o EL is a simplified version generally with fewer functions but with the "Save Topology"
function added.
o ST has similar features as previous versions.
o The Firmware image can be selected (ST or EL and language) during the installation
process.
o See operating manual (doc. nr. 008250) for more details.
o Default programming of the firmware image from stocks is Standard (ST) version, English
language.
 Save Topology function (EL variant only), Erase All, Erase Single via menu. PC connection
supports upload and erase.
 User interface is available in new languages. Supported languages are: en, de, fr, it, es, se.
 Support of 252 devices on one loop.
 Extended resistance measurements for selected line device: Individual resistance from terminal A
to device and individual resistance from terminal B to device can be measured. Line problems
can thus be indentified down to individual device.
 Changed menu structure
o At read-in, Loop or Stub mode has to be chosen (required for extended error checks)
o Some items were renamed.
o Improved device list display: the visualization of the topology was improved, up to 3 levels
are shown so that typical errors can be identified more easily, display by type name or by
ID number. Bus addresses are not shown any more.
o Device details page (only available in ST mode) always shows 4 inputs and outputs
independently of device type. Removed long type descriptions.
 Tagged numbers, e.g. all errors have the format Enn (E01, E02 etc.) Topology numbers Tnnn
(T001, T002 etc.)
 New "Locate devices" menu that activates/deactivates the alarm indicator based on some
constraint: all on, all off, end-of-stub, has errors.
 External AI are also activated (additionally to the internal indicator) when the device is selected or
activated using the locate menu.
 Extended error checks:
o Check loops for stub-on-stub.

o Check stubs for stub-on-stub.

o Detect (some) EOL devices in migrated installations.
 Minor/Internal changes:
o Devices with ES>8 are only supported with firmware > V4.0.7. Older firmware on new
hardware version leads to LCD display errors or a blank display (no hardware damage,
please upgrade to 4.0.7 to recover)
o LCD backlight timeout increased

Known problems
If the FW update fails (recognized in very rare cases), the correct FW image can be
recovered using the “Recover” function in the setup menu.
