DAILY LESSON LOG IN EARTH SCIENCE

I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standard
The learners demonstrate an understanding of the amount of usable water
resources on earth.

B. Performance Standard
The learners shall be able to make a plan that the community may use to
conserve and protect it for future generations.
C. Learning Competency
1. Give ways of conserving and protecting the soil for future generations.

III. PROCEDURE

A. Activity ( Individual )
1. Look at a globe, a model of the Earth.
Ask the following questions:
a. What percentage of Earth’s surface is land?
b. Can all this land be used for farming and for human settlement? Why or
why not?

B. Analysis
a. How are human activities like farming and waste disposal affect the quality
and quantity of soil?
b. What are some of human activities that enhance soil destruction?
c. Can you share in the class a disastrous event that happened in the country
involving soil like landslides?

C. Abstraction
a. Can you suggest some practical ways on how to conserve soil resources?
b. What are some farming methods to be practiced to help prevent soil
erosion?
c. What is overgrazing? Why is it important to prevent overgrazing of
grasslands?
D. Application
a. Role Playing
1. A class of 50 will be divided into eight groups . The group must be
composed of male & female so that roles will be evenly distributed
to the members.
2. Each group will act on a situation depicting soil problem like wrong
agricultural practice, land conversion, landslides, soil erosion.
3. The group will also present steps or ways in conserving and protecting
the precious soil.
