F. Problem Solving.

41-45. Which series will give a better discount, 25% and 15%? Or 10%, 5% and 25%? Why?

46-50. At the end of each year, Joan’s mom would ask how much savings (from daily school
allowance and Christmas gifts) she had for the entire year, and she would promise to double the
amount Joan saved.

On January Joan plans to buy new cellular phone priced at 25,000 Php. What advise can you
give to Joan if she saves 10% of her 200 Php. Daily allowance and she usually gets 5,000 for
Christmas gifts. (Let’s assume that Joan started saving last June and that there are 120 school days
before the Christmas break and 10 school days from the resume of class until the day that she will
going to buy the phone.)
