Weather disturbances can cause damage properties and even lives of people. It can destroy
means of livelihood that eventually leads to food shortage after a typhoon, etc.

thing that people can do is to prepare for any weather disturbances to lessen the possible damages and
losses that it could bring.

forgetting valuable items that are needed. An emergency kit is a must, this is prepared for the purpose
of having food, medicine, flashlights, and clothes when being evacuated to a safer place. Make sure to
secure all important documents in a waterproof bag to avoid getting wet or lost if flooding occur. And
lastly keep a battery powered radio to keep updated on the latest news about the typhoon.

During a typhoon, stay indoors, postpones any travel plans or appointments. Stay away from
any place that may have experienced short circuit and places that may be dangerous. If the household
lives in a low lying area, be alert about local officials’ advisory regarding evacuations. At the evacuation
center, make sure to keep updated about the latest news advisory. Be careful of the food and water,
make sure that the food is clean and the drinking water is boiled. They might have been contaminated
during the calamity. Check if there are still family members or relatives that need help or rescue at
affected areas.

After the calamity has subsided, ensure the safety and well-being of family members and
relatives that are affected. Check the damages caused and have them repaired or replaced if necessary.
Ask an electrician/professional to check electrical wirings to avoid short circuits and be safe. For those
