Scene 1: Vietnam war zone
Music 1: Bomb sfx
(As the lights go down, we hear a bomb. We see flashing lights every flash we
hear a gunshot and a thud as if someone just died. 5 people die.)
Scene 2: Johnny’s house
Music 2: Scene change music 1

Johnny
I see them and hear them start cheering and I wonder what’s
happening? So, I asked them. They said…
Man 1
War’s over mate, we’re going home
Johnny
I was so happy to receive this piece of news until... until I
remembered the lives lost and battles lost, and I was scared to face
the effects after the war. What impacts it’s going to make on me?
How am I going to tell my wife (Dora) the truth? But I remind myself
one step at a time and I’ll be fine. Will she love me? What if she
thinks I’m different?
Dora
Johnny! Oh my god! You survived. I love you! Please tell me what
happened. Tell me who won, who died everything.
Johnny
Well I can’t really say much I mean we trained we fought, and a
bunch of my friends died…
Dora
Are you ok?
Johnny
Yes, I’m fine. Let’s have a drink. Celebrate baby. (He kisses her.)
(We hear a scream and a gunshot. Blackout.)
Scene 3: Vicki’s house
(We hear a knock. Vicki goes to answer. Johnny enters)
Johnny
Hey sis I need to talk to you.
Dora

Dora
Well you were acting weird and I wanted to see if Vicks knew.
Johnny

Vicki

Scene 4- Jack’s house
Jack

Jill
I’m good and I’m so happy you’re home. How are you!

Jack
I’m tired and I’m sweaty and I’ve got blood everywhere. Let’s just go
to bed. (When Jill is asleep, we see jack go out of the room we shift
into their lounge. When jack comes harry is there with and jack goes
to him and starts kissing him. A man walks past the window they
duck.)
Harry
Shit! Do you think he saw us?
Jack
No, it’s all good.
(Blackout)
Scene 5: Pub

Johnny
Here’s to us and all the people who we lost fighting for us.
All soldiers

Harold
Wow great speech. I know what happened out there but if I get £100
from you, I won’t tell you. You have till tomorrow midnight.
Johnny

(We hear a gunshot and a scream like the one in scene 2)

Scene 6: Outside of Johnny’s house

 Dora
What are you doing here?
Johnny
I just wanted to say you look good.
Dora
You broke up with me remember.
Johnny
I know but I miss you.
Dora
Well I could be mean, but I miss you too
Johnny
Can I come in?
Dora
No!
Johnny
Ok fine I’ll return the present.
Dora

Johnny

Dora

Johnny
Okay there you go (he walks off)
 Dora
Johnny wait! You know I love this ring.
Johnny
I know we walked past the shop you pointed at it and said ‘I would
love that as my wedding ring’ but I didn’t have enough money but
there you go.
Dora
Johnny wait! Please come back! Just come and stay here the night
we will figure out tomorrow.
Johnny

Dora

Scene 7: Dream scene

Music 4: Dream Sequence

(We see Johnny get in into bed which is in USR. We see him tossing
and turning in bed we see lights light up in different parts of the
stage. First, we see Johnny kissing a girl from a Vietnamese family.
second, we see someone holding a gun and then firing it. Third, we
see Johnny with a baton. Johnny wakes up startled and wakes up
Dora.)
Dora
Whoa! Are u okay?
Johnny
Yes, I’m fine.
Dora
Okay, go back to sleep babe. You got to go to that funeral tomorrow
even though it’s Christmas eve.

Scene 8: Jack’s house

(we see jack and harry kissing and Jill comes in appalled)
Jill: What the hell is going on!!
Jack: nothing.
Harry: Don’t tell her that she just saw this
Jack: I’m sorry
Jill: You better.
Jack: I’m sorry it’s my fault
Harry: yeah sor-

Scene 9: Funeral of Gerald (make it longer)

I’m very sad to have lost (he sees the ghost of Gerald) Gerald. Oh my
god! No, it can’t be true! No!
(he tries running but gets stopped by Gerald’s mother.)
Gerald’s mother
Hello Johnny! Are you ok?
Johnny
I saw him Mrs Jimes he was there at the back watching me.
Dead dad

Johnny

Gerald’s mother
Dad? I thought he was dead
Johnny

Gerald’s mother

Scene 10: Johnny’s house
(We see Johnny come in and start drinking bottle after bottle and
really getting annoyed. Then he starts smashing stuff in rage the
house is a tip. Dora enters.)
Dora
What the hell happened here? (Johnny turns around.) You are so
drunk!
Johnny
No, I’m not.
Dora
Oh my god. You are so childish you can’t control yourself.
Johnny
Shut up you don’t know what I’m going through!
Dora
Oh, sorry I didn’t know that billy! You’re going through shit all!
Johnny
Piss off!! (Throws a chair.)
Dora

(We see Johnny get on an old phone and call his sister.)
Johnny
Hi Vicki. I need help she just left me please come here.
(We see an old vintage clock spin forward an hour. The doorbell
rings. Johnny answers it. Vicki comes in.)

Tell me what happened now
Johnny
Well it all started with me getting drunk. Then I trashed the
apartment because, I’m so angry with myself. I’m always traumatized
by all the friends I’ve lost. Then we got into a big fight and she said
call me when you’re ready to grow up. I don’t know what to do. Do I
call her. Not call her I don’t know.
Dora
Ok. First, calm down. Second, are you ready? Is this going to happen
again and again? Is it worth calling her? Do you love her? Also, you
may be childish and incompetent but deep down you’re loving,
caring and I think you can be mature. So, what do you think? You
ready.
Johnny
I am ready. I’m loving, caring and I can be mature. I’m ready. Thanks

Dora

Johnny
Okay. Hey babe. I just wanted to let you know. I am ready. I’m so

(We hear a doorbell go off. Johnny opens the door and Dora opens
the door. They embrace tightly.)

Dora

(We hear the clock strike 12 and Johnny and Dora kiss.)
