AID TO CIVIL AUTHORITIES
▪ Use of armed Forces in aid to civil authorities is a function of GoI
▪ Authority of GoI must preferably be obtained for their employment
▪ Maintenance of law & order
▪ Function of local civil authority; use Police/ CPOs.
▪ Requisition by local magistrate; compliance mandatory.
▪ Employment beyond 10 days only with permission of GoI.
▪ Maintenance of essential services
▪ Employment only on authority of GoI.
▪ Assistance during natural or manmade disasters
▪ Preferably after sanction of GoI.
▪ If time is short, local military authority may comply without sanction.
▪ Other assistance including developemental projects
▪ Only with sanction of GoI.
