Damped-SOGI Based Control Algorithm

For Solar PV Power Generating System

Abstract:

This paper presents with two stage solar PV (Photovoltaic) system with a damped-SOGI
(Second Order Generalized Integrator) algorithm.
Existing method:

The existing method describes an estimation of delay in sinusoidal input signal a

modified SOGI (Second Order Generalized Integrator) is reported. It does not require any prior
knowledge of frequency of input signal. Luna et al. have reported three synchronization
techniques decoupled double synchronous reference frame PLL, the dual SOGI PLL, and the
three-phase enhanced PLL under unbalanced and distorted grid conditions. However, it is not
focused on nonlinear loads and load unbalancing.

Proposed method:

The proposed method proposes a damped -SOGI algorithm is proposed. It is not only
utilized to estimate the current error for the hysteresis PWM current controller, moreover it also
helps in load balancing, power factor improvement and harmonics elimination. A digital resonant
with two integrators and discretization of resonant controller for shunt active power filter to
mitigate the harmonics of the load current are reported. A generalized PWM current controlled
scheme for grid connected inverter is reported. Damped-SOGI based control algorithm is having
higher converging rate, improved steady state performance and good noise immunity. The
proposed system with damped-SOGI based control approach is modeled, and its prototype is
developed in the laboratory for power factor correction along with reduction in harmonics
currents and balancing of loads in addition to SPV energy transfer to the grid.
