Before MSP is Graphical User Interface now it is a Microsoft Fluent User Interface.

ENTER A TASK IN A PROJECT


1. On the view menu, click Gantt chart
2. In the Task Mode,
If we select Auto scheduled (Task dates are calculated by Microsoft)
If we select Manually scheduled (Task dates are not automatically updated)

3. On the Task menu, click task and enter the task name in the inserted row.

Press ENTER
ENTERING A DURATION TO THE TASK
On the View menu, click Gantt chart.

1. In the Duration field of the task you want to change, type the duration you want
You can enter durations in minutes, hours, days, weeks, or months.
2. To indicate or flag the new duration as an estimate, type a question mark after it.
Press ENTER

TIMESCALE AT A DIFFERENT LEVEL


1. On the View menu, click Timescale, select Timescale, and then click the Top Tier,
Middle Tier or Bottom Tier tab
2. On the tab for the displayed timescale tier, in the Units box, click the time unit you
want to use.
3. In the Label box, click the label you want for displaying the time unit.
4. In the Align box, click the label alignment you want.
5. In the Count box, type or select a number to specify the frequency of unit labels on
the timescale tier.
CALENDARS
1. On the Project menu, click Change Working Time.
2. In the For Calendar box, click the project calendar. The project calendar for the
current project is followed by “(Project Calendar).” The default is Standard
(Project Calendar).
DEFINING NEW CALENDAR
On the Project menu, click Change Working Time.

1. Click Create New Calendar.


2. If you want to begin with a default calendar, click Create new base calendar.
3. If you want to create a new calendar based on an existing calendar, click Make a
copy of, and then click the calendar name in the calendar box.
4. In the Name box, type a name for your new base calendar.
5. Click OK.
6. On the calendar, select the days you want to change.
7. Click the Details tab.
8. For editing calendar refer Work Weeks and Exceptions, explained below.
ASSSIGNING CALENDAR TO PROJECT
Go to Project, select Project Information

ASSSIGNING TASK CALENDAR TO PROJECT


1. On the View menu, click Gantt chart.
2. In Task name field, select the task to which you want to assign a calendar
3. On the Task menu, select Information, and then click the Advanced tab.
4. In the Calendar box, click the calendar you want to use for the task.

Scheduling:
A Relationship establishes the dependency between any two tasks.
Work Breakdown Structure
Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) is a hierarchical structure that is used to organize tasks
for reporting schedules and tracking costs.

WBS Codes:

There are 2 types of WBS code

 Outline Number
 Custom WBS Code

Create WBS code

To set up your custom WBS code scheme.

1. Go to Project tab --> Properties --> WBS --> Define code

2. Use the Project Code Prefix box to apply a prefix to all WBS codes that you assign

3. In the Sequence column at the bottom of the box, select the type of character you
want to use

4. Choose the Length for the WBS level

5. Use the Separator column to select period

6. Click Ok when you Finish


Resource Management
Resources are the people, supplies and equipment that enable you to complete the tasks in
your project.

Types of Resource

 Work
 Material
 Cost

Enter Resource Names in Resource sheet


1. Task tab--> View --> click Gantt chart --> select Resource Sheet
2. Resource tab --> Team Planner --> select Resource Sheet.
Reports
The Reports chapter deals with printing views and the use of reports for presenting the
project information.

You can use your project data to create two kinds of reports ,

 Text Reports
 Visual Reports

Creating Text Reports

1. Go to Project Tab --> Reports group --> Reports

2. Click the category of report you want


3. Click Select. Project displays the reports available in that category
