LLB (Bachelor of Law) is a three year undergraduate degree in law. If you want to join
legal line then you must go for LLB after bachelors in any stream of study. You will
also be able to become magistrate, civil judge, additional session judge, judge of
special courts, public prosecutor.
Now BA-LLB program has also been launched in Pakistan. Its a five year program and
soon we shall write a separate detailed article on scope of BA-LLb.
Medium of instruction in LLB is English yet some colleges are offering this program in
Urdu too. After passing the LLB you will have to clear an entry test administer by
provincial bar council. Without clearing the entry test you will not be enrolled in any
bar council as an advocate. six months pupillage with a senior lawyer is also
compulsory.
Why LLB?
LLB is a better choice than any nonprofessional MA or MSc degree after graduation.
It will alleviate your social status in the society. You will be able to help the people.
Just after 2 years of experience, you may appear in the exam of civil judge, so it is
recommended that you must not only actively take part in  your legal practice but
also stay in touch with law books. Majority of law students go for MA Political
Science after LLB but i think that LLM should be their first choice as it will not only
help them in their legal practice but also in judiciary papers. All lawyers must try their
luck by applying for the posts of civil judge and magistrate.
