Alexandre de Cunha – Monumento

Revolver Publishing 2019 ISBN 9783957634627 Acqn 29880
Pb 25x33cm 240pp col ills £19.50

MONUMENTO is the second book dedicated to the work of Alexandre da Cunha. Born in Rio de
Janeiro in 1969, the artist is based in London and Sao Paulo. His practice has largely been
dedicated to sculpture, based on ideas of readymade and found objects, which he re-signifies,
inviting the viewers the see them through a new perspective. In the last few years, da Cunha has
taken these ideas to a monumental scale, with commissions of site-specific works in places such
as Boston, London, and Sao Paulo. These large-scale installations constitute the core of
MONUMENTO. The book will further showcase smaller table objects, as well as a selection of
samplings, a series of works on paper which flirt with notions of collage, appropriation and the
public realm.
Featuring an essay by Fernanda Brenner and a conversation between da Cunha, Phillip King and
Jenni Lomax.

Ron Nagle - Sub Rosa. Secession

Revolver Publishing 2019 ISBN 9783957634580 Acqn 29881
Hb 23x26cm 120pp col ills £29.95

"Years later I rediscovered the photo booth at a novelty shop on 24th Street in San Francisco. I
spent a lot of time there, taking dozens of pictures. Simultaneously, I began collecting random
postcards from my favourite shop in North Beach. My photo shoots got more involved when I
decided to merge the two elements. I would adjust my posture, pose, and attire to best
accommodate the postcard. Sometimes it would take a hundred shots to get it right. By carefully
selecting the proper combination of sticker and postcard, I was able to make a somewhat
convincing tableau. These collages allowed me to insinuate myself into a scene from someone
else’s experience." (Ron Nagle)

Alexandra Bircken - 1986 – Secession

"For my artist's book for the Secession, I reproduced my diary calendar from 1986, the year I was
eighteen. The calendar is full of dense handwritten entries that obsessively revolve around
questions of my identity. Finding myself was what it was about. Which man? Daniel, Olli, Arnd?
My math teacher? No one? Passages that now strike me as too private were blacked out in the
process. Today's digital trace masks the analogue trace from decades ago. The censorship
becomes a graphical addition, a drawing that pulls together the two different periods of time,
separated by thirty-three years." (Alexandra Bircken)

Expanded Writing
Revolver Publishing 2019 ISBN 9783957634610 Acqn 30208
Pb 16x27cm 240pp col ills £20.95

This book arises from the shared interest in practices of writing of artists and scholars in the field
of performance, dance, and visual arts. For all authors writing is - in various forms and to different
ends - an essential part of their work: as a movement practice and a mode of self-reflection, an
aesthetic and epistemic practice. The different approaches converge in the idea of an "expanded
writing" as a broad approach to writing that encompasses note taking, scribbling, engraving,
documenting, producing text as well as choreographing. Texts by: Christina Ciupke, Daniela
Hahn, Juliane Laitzsch, Sophia New, Isa Wortelkamp.

Jerome Chazeix - Stagings with Music, Costumes and Participation 2012-2019

Revolver Publishing 2019 ISBN 9783957634733 Acqn 30210
Pb 21x29cm 144pp col ills £24.50

Jerome Chazeix's third publication with Revolver focuses on the participatory practice and the
use of textile. Chazeix's work of the last years are contemporary syntheses of the arts
("Gesamtkunstwerke") in the combination of different media and their cross-references.
Sculptures, videos, music and costumes are preferred elements of his artistic work and its
installations, environments and performances. The interplay and the fusion of these disciplines
results in a complex scenario.
