Congress of the United States Washington, BE 20510 January 21, 2020 ‘The Honorable Michael Pompeo, Secretary of State, United States Department of State 2201 C Street NW, Room 7226 Washington, DC 20520 Dear Secretary Pompeo: As members of the North Carolina and Virginia Congressional delegations, we have been made aware of an opportunity for US manufacturers to serve the needs of the US Department of State’s Worldwide Residential Furniture Program. It is our understanding that current furniture is largely being sourced offshore. In an effort to meet the State Department’s needs, a team of US based furniture manufacturers has formed to offer and supply competitively priced US manufactured furnishings to our government. This manufacturing coalition would like to offer its services to any future Blanket Purchase Agreement (BPA) and additionally believes that there is nothing in Federal Acquisition Regulations that would prohibit them from competing for current individual State Department task orders. Of particular interest to us is the opportunity to promote American jobs and industry, ensure consistent high safety standards, and to help the Department of State leverage more buying options into greater competition and value for the taxpayers. We also request that we be informed of the specific date as to when the new solicitation will be released for the next 5-year BPA. We understand that a coalition of North Carolina and Virginia based companies will be approaching your agency with greater detail on their efforts. We ask that you give them, and any other American manufacturer, your fair consideration as your agency works to fulfil its furniture needs. ‘Thank you for your time and consideration, Sincerely, < RICHARDBURR THOM TILLIS United States Senator United States Senator *ATRICK MCHENRY ‘Member of Congress | TED BUDD Member of Congress
