I wrote this for a friend, but thought it might be useful for others as well.

It's very difficult to find huge amounts of audio book download resources if you
don't already have access to them, or if you don't already know someone who does.

Well, this should do the trick, and allow you access to most of the underground
audiobook content that's currently available.

1. Torrent Sites
I'll only mention these two torrent sites, since they seem to have the best content
for audiobooks.
http://demonoid.com
http://fenopy.com
To download torrents, you will need a good torrent client. I'd recommend UTorrent
at
http://utorrent.com

2. The AudioBookEmporium
This is another great resource for downloading audio books. It is set up as a
forum, and uses Rapidshare.com for most downloads.

3. The Direct Connect Network

This is probably one of the most powerful and comprehensive ways of sharing audio
books on the net, having access to hundreds of thousands of audiobooks at all
times. Since this is a Direct Connect network, meaning that each user's system
communicates directly with each others for each download, it works very fast, and
is invisible from the net.
Getting started is a bit tricky, but once you are set up, you really will be
amazed. So here's how to do it.

A) Download the DC++ client from

http://gutterstar.net/dc_plus_plus.php
(This is the same client as can be downloaded through the DC++ dev site, but also
includes the links to the JAWS scripts that make DC++ accessible for the blind.
This being the supported version.)
The DC++ scripts for the blind can be found at
http://gutterstar.net/dc_plus_plus_scripts.php
Now install the app, and follow the instructions on the first DC++ link above to
get your system set up properly.

B) Now you should be ready to access the audiobook hubs directly. Here are the
addresses to the best audio book hubs that I've been able to find.
dawghouse.mine.nu
thesecretgarden.no-ip.biz
Simply add each of these addresses to your Favorite Hub list, and then connect to
each. Just follow the instructions for each, which will walk you through the
process of setting up your username and password. After you set each of these for
each hub, you can add this info to each hub within your Favorite Hubs list by
clicking Properties, and then adding your username and password. This way, it will
automatically connect you when you login.

C) To search for specific listings, just use the Search option in the View menu,
and search away.
To browse the shared folders of other users, just right-click on any user item, and
click "Get File List".
You can find out pretty much everything you can do by right-clicking on everything.

D) Of course you will need to set up a Share folder, so you can do this by going
into the File menu, and clicking Settings. Just go through these and change the
obvious things that make sense to you. Help is available by clicking the Help
button.

If you are interested in creating a huge, world wide resource of audio book
downloads, please share these instructions far and wide.
