Sin
About 54 verses in Quran with contains word SIN

Compiled by: Dr Izzat Husain

Al-Baqara They ask thee concerning wine and gambling. Say: "In them is great sin, and some profit

[2:219] for men; but the sin is greater than the profit." They ask thee how much they are to

spend; say: "What is beyond your needs." Thus doth Allah make clear to you His Signs: in

order that ye may consider.―

Al-Baqara If ye are on a journey, and cannot find a scribe, a pledge with possession (may serve the

[2:283] purpose). And if one of you deposits a thing on trust, with another, let the trustee―

(faithfully) discharge his trust and let him fear his Lord. Conceal not evidence; for whoever

conceals it his heart is tainted with sin. And Allah knoweth all that ye do.

Aal-e- As for those who sell the faith they owe to Allah and their own solemn plighted word for a

Imran small price, they shall have no portion in the Hereafter: nor will Allah (deign to) speak to

[3:77] them or look at them on the Day of Judgment, nor will He cleanse them (of sin); they shall

have a grievous penalty.

An-Nisa To orphans restore their property (when they reach their age), nor substitute (your)

[4:2] worthless things for (their) good ones; and devour not their substance (by mixing it up)

with your own. For this is indeed a great sin.

An-Nisa If any of you have not the means wherewith to wed free believing women, they may wed

[4:25] believing girls from among those whom your right hands possess: and Allah hath full

knowledge about your Faith. Ye are one from another: wed them with the leave of their

owners, and give them their dowers, according to what is reasonable: they should be

chaste not lustful nor taking paramours: when they are taken in wedlock, if they fall into

shame, their punishment is half that for free women. This (permission) is for those among

you who fear sin; but it is better for you that ye practise self-restraint: And Allah is Oft-

Forgiving, Most Merciful.

An-Nisa Allah forgiveth not that partners should be set up with him; but He forgiveth anything, else

[4:48] to whom He pleaseth; to set up partners with Allah is to devise a sin most heinous indeed.

An-Nisa
Behold! How they invent a lie against Allah! But that by itself is a manifest sin!
[4:50]

An-Nisa When angels take the souls of those who die in sin against their souls, they say: "In what

[4:97] (plight) were ye?" They reply: "Weak and oppressed were we in the earth." They say: "Was

not the earth of Allah spacious enough for you to move yourselves away (from evil)?" Such

men will find their abode in Hell―what an evil refuge!―

An-Nisa And if anyone earns sin, he earns it against his own soul: for Allah is full of knowledge and

[4:111] wisdom.

An-Nisa But if anyone earns a fault or a sin and throws it on to one that is innocent, He carries (on

[4:112] himself) (both) a false charge and a flagrant sin.

An-Nisa Allah forgiveth not (the sin of) joining other gods with Him: but He forgiveth whom He

[4:116] pleaseth other sins than this: one who joins other gods with Allah, hath strayed far, far

away (from the Right).

Al-Maeda O ye who believe! violate not the sanctity of the Symbols of Allah, nor of the Sacred

[5:2] Month, nor of the animals brought for sacrifice, nor the garlands that mark out such

animals, nor the people resorting to the Sacred House, seeking of the bounty, and good

pleasure of their Lord. But when ye are clear of the Sacred Precincts and of pilgrim garb,

ye may hunt and let not the hatred of some people in (once) shutting you out of the

Sacred Mosque lead you to transgression (and hostility on your part). Help ye one another

in righteousness and piety, but help ye not one another in sin and rancour: fear Allah: for

[5:106] when making bequests― two just men of your own (brotherhood) or others from outside if

ye are journeying through the earth, and the chance of death befalls you (thus). If ye

doubt (their truth), detain them both after prayer, and let them both swear by Allah: "We

not the evidence We owe to Allah: if we do then, behold! the sin be upon us!"

Al-Maeda But if it gets known that these two were guilty of the sin (of perjury). Let two others stand

[5:107] forth in their places,― nearest in kin from among those who claim a lawful right: let them

swear by Allah: "We affirm that our witness is truer than that of those two, and that we

have not trespassed (beyond the truth): if we did, behold! the wrong be upon us!

him To him. Aaron said: "son of my mother! The people did indeed reckon me as naught,

thou me amongst the people of sin."

rebellious.

from you!

Hud Why were there not among, the generations before you, persons possessed of balanced

Yusuf (Respite will be granted) until, when the messengers give up hope (of their people) and
