Generally the following stages are :-

After filing of Civil suit service or notice to defendant

After appearing in suit, defendant files written statement in his defence

Replication,if any, by plaintiff.

Rejoinder by defendant, if any

Consideration, if any, Stay or any Misce application and order on it.

Settlement of issues

Evidences by plaintiff

Cross examination by defendant

Evidences by Defendant

Cross examination by plaintiff

Rebuttal evidences by plaintiff

Arguments.

Order of suit.

In case any application is moved in between process, first reply will be filed
and after it's consideration n order then further process will start.

Thses are usual stages .

Following are the stages in proceedings of a Civil Suit in India:
Search for questions, people, and topics Sign In
1. In first stage, suit is instituted i.e. filing of suit in a competent court having
jurisdiction.

2. After admission of suit, summons are issued to defendant(s).

3. Defendant files his written statement. It is a sort of reply to plaintiff's (who

files suit) contention(s).

4. If defendant has any set-off claim, then he can raise here.

5. After examining above things, court frames issues.

6. In this stage, parties present their evidences to support their contentions.

7. Examination of witnesses.

8. Arguments.

9. Judgement/Decree

These stages are indicative. May slightly vary from case to case.
