Your summative assessment for this module is made up of this coursework submission which
accounts for 100% of the marks
The deadline for submission is 23:59 hrs on 02 January 2020. Please note late submissions will
not be marked.
You are required to submit all elements of your assessment via Turnitin online access. Only
submissions made via the specified mode will be accepted and hard copies or any other digital
form of submissions (like via email or pen drive etc.) will not be accepted.
For coursework, the submission word limit for Part A is 2000 words and for Part B is 1,000
words. You must comply with the word count guidelines. You may submit LESS than 3000 words
but not more. Word Count guidelines can be found on your programme home page and the
coursework submission page.
Do not put your name or contact details anywhere on your submission. You should only put
your student registration number (SRN) which will ensure your submission is recognised in the
marking process.
A total of 100 marks are available for this module assessment, and you are required to achieve
minimum 40% to pass this module.
You are required to use only Harvard Referencing System in your submission. Any content which
is already published by other author(s) and is not referenced will be considered as a case of
plagiarism.

2. Assessment Brief
2.1. Brief
Part A:
80% of the total marks.
Max 2,000 words
Complete five (5) pieces of reflective writing that may be based on lectures, seminar
activities, recommended videos and/or readings that have been undertaken during the
module. A list of themes is provided below to ensure that you are able to meet the learning
outcomes.
(16 Marks per piece of reflective writing).
Part B:
10% of the total marks.
Max 1,000 words
Complete a personal statement identifying how you have met the learning outcomes for
this module through your reflective writing.
(10 Marks)
Part C:
10% of the total marks.
Max 5 minutes
Prepare and record an individual presentation chosen from one of your reflective writing
pieces that demonstrates effective speaking and non-verbal communication techniques.
(10 Marks)
The URL for the recorded presentation must be added to the summative assessment cover
sheet in the space provided.
2.2. Tasks
Complete five (5) pieces of reflective writing that may be based on lectures, seminar
activities, recommended videos or readings that have been completed during the module.
Topics
You need to relate your reflective writing to concepts, models and theories of leadership
and also to YOUR OWN EXPERIENCES OF LEADERSHIP. This can relate to all, or some of the
situations below:
b) Your own personal experiences of people who currently have, or previously had a
leadership responsibility for you.
c) Leadership in companies you are working for or have worked for in the past.
e) Leadership in organisations known well to you, where you have seen the impact of
those responsible for leadership on people you know.
Complete a personal statement identifying how you have met the learning outcomes for this
module. Your content in Part B can relate to your own experience of leadership or the wider
business world.
You must include the following elements, (which directly relate to the learning outcomes).
1. Assess the strengths and limitations of two leadership theories when applied to
leadership in practice.
2. Critically evaluate the strengths and limitations of two leadership concepts and
frameworks in solving problems in different contexts.
3. Appraising two different factors and contexts which impact on leadership practice.
4. Analysing how the concept of ethics can impact on leadership and decision-making.
Part C: (5 mins)
Prepare and deliver an individual presentation that communicates the key messages in one
of your reflective writing pieces, and also explains how you will develop your own
leadership capability as a result of your learning.
The assignment is marked out of 100. The following table shows the mark allocation and the
approach required.
