Old Fellas in the NFL

The ranges in the above histogram were provided for us through google sheets after we
collected our initial data about the age of quarterbacks in the NFL in the 2018 season. The data
along the horizontal axis reveals the age range between quarterbacks, and the vertical axis
reveals the amount of quarterbacks at that age. For example, between 20 years old and 23.6
years old, there are 10 quarterbacks. This continues on for the following ranges as the vertical
axis reveals the highest number of quarterbacks within the range of 23.6 years and 27.1 years,
with an astounding 15. My partner and I were not shocked to see that there were many more
young quarterbacks in the NFL than old, we were astounded to see three quarterbacks above
the age of 37.86 years old.

In the Stem and Leaf Plot shown above, my partner and I were able to collect data regarding the
age of NFL quarterbacks in the 2018 season, and organize it within the above plot. My partner
and I, out of 55 subjects, were astounded to see as many as we did within their 20’s. We were
expecting only one individual within their forties still playing, but we expected maybe another
who doesn’t have as big of a name. The data shown above is almost shown in a Pareto chart
form, with the information going from its highest amount, and declining to its lowest.

The above pie chart my partner and I created on google sheets accurately represents
the percentages of quarterbacks in the NFL in 2018 who were between a certain age range. For
example, above you will see the largest category is blue, with it’s percent being 34.2, that
means 15 out of 55 quarterbacks were between the age of 23.57 and 27.14. On the other hand
as well, you see a smaller sliver of orange, this shows only 6.3 percent of quarterbacks in the
2018 season were between the ages of 37.86 and 41.43, leading it to represent 6.3% of the
total graph and Quarterback population of the 2018 season. My partner and I were excited
about creating this graph, outside the histogram and relative frequency histogram, it compares
the information together very closely and shows percentages as well.

The relative frequency histogram above displays the percentages of the Age of NFL
Quarterbacks (2018) and which age range they fall into. The horizontal axis shows the age
ranges and the vertical axis shows the percentages. The relative frequency histogram is a great
way to organize data in a percentage form compared to using the class limits in a normal
histogram.
The pareto chart above shows the age ranges of Quarterbacks in the NFL (2018)
on the vertical axis. The horizontal axis shows the number of quarterbacks. The pareto
chart is very similar to a histogram but the bars are horizontal and not vertical. This
allows you to see the changes between the age ranges at a different perspective. For
example, this graph shows that there are many more quarterbacks in the 23.57-27.14
than in the older age ranges.
The graph above is the ogive that my partner and I created. The ogive uses the
=cumulative frequency on the vertical axis and the ages on the horizontal axis to display
the data. In this graph, the cumulative percentages are added on from left to right. This
is another way to display the information we found regarding the age of NFL
Quarterbacks in 2018.

With this specific set of data, we were unable to make an effective time series
graph. Normally, a time series graph will show a change over time. However, since we
did the ages of NFL quarterbacks, it wouldn't be an effective time series graph.
