The Conveyor System

Conveyor lines are used to transport materials from one place to another place. In our design, flat belt
conveyors will be used as feeding system since they permit easy access to the materials on the belts.
Belt conveyors function through the continuous movement of a belt around two drums. In this design
used to transport dishes from the used place to the washing machine at some inclination. It is simple,
easily maintainable and high reliability of operation. The elevated drum rotor contains the motor,
which serves to keep the motor as clean as possible. The belt moves along a supporting frames, and
walls along the side of the conveyor are used to keep materials from falling.
Methodology
Data gathering: literature review data‟s are assessed from different journals and websites.
Specify over all dimension of the dish transport machine.
Part design:
Modeling, part and assembly drawing using solid work software.
Geometric analysis
Force analysis
Project objective and specification: general and specific objectives, design specification
DESIGN ANALYSIS
Conveyor system
Belt Conveyor
Belt conveyor system is used for transportation of material from one location to another location. In
this design it is used to transport the dishes from the used place to the washing machine at some
inclination. It is simple, easily maintainable and high reliability of operation.
Selection of conveyor
Flat belt conveyor because:
For transporting light loads like used dishes for transporting purpose.
Provide considerable control.
Material of the conveyor belt: elastomeric
Components of conveyor
 Motor
 Belt
 Speed upper
 Drive belt
 Bearing
 Driver belt guard
 Take up pulley
 Gravity roller
The belt conveyor presents the following advantages:
 Reduction in numbers of personnel
 Reduction in energy consumption
 Independence of the system to its Surrounds
 Reduced business costs
Motor selection for the conveyor
From standard of motor selection the corresponding power we have selected is 1.5 KW.
Application: Driving conveyor
P=1.5 KW
N=750 rpm
Frame No=D100 L
Width (A) =160 mm Length between fixed holes (B) =140 mm
Distance between the shaft shoulder and holes(c) =70 mm
In case of motor with gear head the speed is calculated by the following formula.

𝑁 = 𝑖 ∗ 𝑛1 where n = motor speed in rpm

n1 = speed of gear output shaft attached to it.

i = reduction ratio of the gear head

The required speed at the motor head is 30 rpm and the gear ratio that realizes motor speed of
750rpm is calculated below.
𝑛 750𝑟𝑝𝑚
Reduction of the gear 𝑖 = 𝑛 = 30𝑟𝑝𝑚
= 25𝑟𝑝𝑚 therefore we have used a gear ratio of for this

reduction purpose we have selected worm gear because the worm gear is mostly used as a speed
reducer.

Material selection for worm gear: since the warm is made up of phosphorous bronze therefore
taking the allowable static stress for phosphorous bronze is o = 84 MPa c = 168 MPa (Flexural
endurance limit) Where, DG = diameter of the gear DW = diameter of the worm X = center distance

Gear design
Design Considerations for a Gear Drive in the design of a gear drive, the following data is usually
given: 1. The power to be transmitted. 2. The speed of the driving gear, 3. The speed of the driven
gear or the velocity ratio, and 4. The center distance.
Diametric pitch D ------------------------------------------------------------------ (4.18) Where, TG = teeth
number of gear Px= circular pitch D = =200 mm Common dimension to both worm and gear
