I. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Special Sweet Pakumbo is a cooperative in nature. It is to be run by the
students themselves. It's initial capital for the first operation of PhP. 785.00 will be
coming from the student owners by means of our savings as our stock in the
business and from fund-raising activities as well. Special Sweet Pakumbo as the
main product is to be manufactured by the proponents and to be sold and distributed
to the target market. Since the main product is made from coconut, it promotes
healthy affordable and satisfying coconut derivative products. The proponents made
an agreement with SSNCHS administration on how they can be of help on the
promotion of nutrition and on increasing the agricultural market especially on coconut
farmers.
Special Sweet Pakumbo aims to be the leading producer and provider of
nutritious and affordable home-made Filipino delicacy around the municipality of
Balangiga. The student-owners will be trained and guided before they handle the
business to avoid lapses and misconceptions. The management and operation of
Special Sweet Pakumbo starts from inventory and estimation of the volume of
pakumbo to be produce weekly. Second is packaging of the ingredients and raw
materials needed to be complete the preparation of the product. Third are production
and packaging of the pakumbo. Lastly, marketing and selling of the product. It
ensures safety and sanitation of it's business structures and cleanliness of the
product itself. It aims to lower the price of the pakumbo without sacrifying it's quality.
Since it is new in the business line, it initially aims to captures 15% of the
existing market shares which is currently dominated by Nazandaj Banana Chips,
Felicitous Notch and all possible business of our co-students. Special Sweet
Pakumbo is highly feasible and socially desirable. It will help the students because
this will serve as learning laboratory for the students of SSNCHS especially to the
newbie. It will also be the inspiration for the aspiring business men and women to be
a successful entrepreneur. The proponents of the business advocates being the
leading promoter of agricultural products specifically coconut. This will help increase
the demands of coconut, thereby economically promotes livelihood among the
coconut farmers in the area.

B. Special Sweet Pakumbo is both the business name and the name of it's primary
products. It is cooperative in nature. Specifically, it will produce a delicious and
nutritious kind if delicacy that will be placed and sealed in a clean plastic bags
together with the inspirational quotes that will surely fit and guarantee clienteles
satisfaction. It combines innovativeness and creativity in product concepts of
making a simple kind of business.
C. It envisions to be the leading provider of high quality but affordable Filipino
delicacy in Balangiga. Continues innovation of the product will be processed to
supply the needs of Balangigan-ons. Also, it will help the ease the malnutition in
Balangiga through the help of a delicious and nutritious Filipino delicacy and
somehow help the coconut farmers interms of increasing the consumption and
demand of coconut in the municipality.

III. THE PROBLEM/NEED


A. According to the study of UNICEF that the issue of children, food and nutrition,
providing a fresh perspective on a rapidly evolving challenge similarly, the report
found that adolescents are eating unhealthy the food that do not meet their
nutritional needs. Adolescents among Filipino has almost tripled in the last 15
years as processed foods high in salts, fats and sugar becoming more accessible
and affordable. As it result, a lot of number of Filipino children and adolescents
especially the students are involved in eating unhealthy foods that made them
malnutrated.
B. We know that eating an unhealthy foods can make our body weak. Accross the
globe, 42% of schoo-going students drink carbonated soft drinks at least once a
day and 46% eat fast food at least once a week. Poor nutrition can have
irreversable effects on the physical andmental development of a student that
eventually affects a students performance in school as well as productivity and
ability to learn. The triple burden of malnutration - undernutrition, hidden hunger
or the lack of essential nutrients and overweight - threatens the survival, growth
and development of children, young people, economies and nations.
C. As we know that there are many Filipino children and adolescent especially the
students are an unhealthy foods, we can prevent it by making a small food
vending business. We decided to make a Filipino food delicacy. A delicacy that
we will make is Pakumbo. Pakumbo is a nutritious, delicious and sweet delicacy
that quested by the Filipino taste. Pakumbo is one of the favourite delicacy of the
Filipino because of it's unique taste. Pakumbo can be a nutritious snack other
than soft drinks and junk foods. They will surely choose Pakumbo because of it's
ingredients that is nutritious and that can help as a food appetizer.

as the leading advocate of healthy and natural food products, and the leading
providers of the best Filipino delicacy.

and high quality delicacy for the clienteles. This is through the dedication and passion
of the management to produce this kind of product. In line with these, it sets a
mission to achieve at least 20% return on equity after a months of operation.

product it can serve. It will maintain it's high standard of hard work, hygiene and
sanitation in food preparation and handling and also the proper grooming and
etiquette of the owners and personnel. The dedicated management will give their

Today's delicacies that are made and sell by others are believed to have a
little improvement for customer's satisfaction. The proponents decided that they
must undergo a careful observation in the business location. The management
also underwent an official interview with owners of the other maker of Filipino
delicacies in the locality. The proponents found out that customers are not
satisfied because of the looks of the product and expensive - the price is not suit
to the look of product.
The management believes that action must be taken primarily to make a new
twist in preparing and serving delicacies.
The current status if coconut farmers in the municipality where the coconut
supply are to be taken was also observed and given attention in order to support
them when the business starts it's operations.

kind of food to performed their task well and good. This can be your favourite

Since the target market are the childrens and students, it will be sell and
peddled at school. The exact unique taste of the Pakumbo will be quested by
the students, childten as well as teacher. To become more attractive and buyable
to all customers , we will add inspirational quotations that they can relate. In that
way, we have an advantage to our possible competitors in the business.

with the inspirational quotes. Special Sweet Pakumbo can be your favourite
snack because it is nutritious, sweet and delicious that made the customer
quested. It is also exact to the taste of student and children. Special Sweet
Pakumbo has an affordable price that other customer can easily buy.

The business will produce a sweet and delicious pakumbo with high quality
contents and nutritious value as well Special Sweet Pakumbo will need raw
material to produce the goods to be sold. These include young and fresh coconut
strips, brown sugar and what they called "kalamay". The proponents will be the
one to produce the product. Raw materials will be purchased of Balangiga town
market where we can assure the best quality and the aspects of perish ability.
The proponents tried to interview the teachers and some students by offering
them a free taste and made a comment after. During the operation, the business
will think of more ideas on how to create more appealing and attractive products.

Special Sweet Pakumbo will manufacture at least 50 packs of pakumbo per
week. The preparation of the mixtures will take only 2 hours before cooking. And
the cooking process will take only 25 minutes as it depends to it's quantity. The
three (3) proponents divide the work among themselves. The production hour will
be done during weekends so as not to affect our studies. Since the shelf life is
only one month, the possibility of producing for advance demand is highly
considered. It will supply the secondary school that will serve as it's main market.

in the market. This will be coming from the investment of the students who are

this kind of business is our only contribution of money. All of the member in this
business will contribute on a specific amount of money to start the business. Our
money that we will contribute is from pur savings in our allowance so that it will
not getting out of hand.

a) Long-Term Desired Outcomes
Special Sweet Pakumbo will supply feeding program numbers in different
schools near the location including San Miguel Elementary School, Bacjao
Elementary School, Cansumankay Elementary School, Guinmayohan
Elementary School, Cag-olango Elementary School, Sta. Rosa Elementary
School, Balangiga Central Elementary School and any elementary schools
around the municipality of Balangiga. The proponents will also prioritize the
patient in the hospital. We will negotiate with the principals of each
elementary schools around the Balangiga regarding the inclusion of the
Special Sweet Pakumbo as a nutritious dessert among the students in the
schools feeding program. Thus, Special Sweet Pakumbo expect that within
three years operation it can fund it's own feeding program.
b) Social Impact In The Community
The business will not only help the malnourished children in the community
but to help the producers of these goods that will be the main thrust of the
business. It will implement a work immersion of the student of a senior high
school inside the Southern Samar National Comprehensive High School as a
preparation for their official training work. The proponent of the business will
also be the educator of the students taking the T.V.L. (Technical Vocational
Livelihood)-Cookery since our school is implementing this kind of curriculum.
This will be a great help for them in case they are planning to build their own
business in the future.
c) Business Impact In The Community
Special Sweet Pakumbo believes in coexisting with nature and business
environment. It will increase market demand for coconut farmers who produce
this agricultural product. This will help the government prevent importation of
coconut. Since the main product is made from coconut, it promotes healthy,
affordable and satisfying coconut derivative products. The proponents made
an agreement with the SSNCHS administration on how they can be of help on
the promotion of nutrition and on increasing market especially for the coconut
farmers. The business has the potential to survive in the market because of
