Fluid Mechanics Lab
AE 341
Course Objectives
‘To observe physical examples of the flow phenomena studied in a first course in fluid mechanics.
‘To become familiar with some laboratory measurement techniques
To develop the ability to write engineering reports.
To gain introductory understanding of Theory vs Experimental vs Industry.
5. To develop the students ability to logically and quantitatively present data analysis.
General Information
1. Every other week a lab will be conducted, the following week will usually be devoted to a lecture
on the lab write ups, and lab reports will be due 2 weeks after the experiment date.
2. Lab work will be conducted in groups but all students are expected to turn in their own
individual work and reports.
3. Attendance is required for all labs for a grade in the experiment. Attendance for the same
experiment with another section is acceptable with advance approval.
4, At the conclusion of the experiment each student will take 1 data run to conduct sample
calculations and will be due 1 week after the experiment,
Point Breakdown
1. The points breakdown can be changed by the professor if necessary after the semester starts.
2. Grading is based on labs, sample calculations, and quizzes on a points basis in the tables that
follow.
3. Each abbreviated lab is 30 pts approx 8 % of your grade, Each full lab is 50 pts approx 15 % of
your grade.
4. Grading criteria for labs not covered in this breakdown sheet is further detailed in the lab manual.Abbreviated Lab Grading
