Effects of Internet in Achieving Good Outputs in Araling Panlipunan of

Grade 8-Linnaeus

Introduction

1. Background of the study

Social media is currently taking over the world and it is because of the internet. Using

it in learning makes school life better it helps speed up the productivity and it helps gain

more information. It is considered as the most important medium in education it is because

the method of teaching has changed and the students are able to find answers to their

queries without a problem. The main motive of it is sharing information especially in the

field of education.

Dasmariñas Integrated High School is a home of 10,000 students and grade 8-

Linnaeus are one of it. This section is a part of a Special Science Curriculum where well-

trained students learn and mostly uses internet for certain subjects such as Araling

Panlipunan. Internet is more effective compared to books and the other types of reading

materials because it contains a lot of information which all source are included. Despite the

chances of fraud and drawbacks it will still give a lot of useful knowledge to students in 8-

Linnaeus. Araling Panlipunan is considered to have many outputs to hand out and most of

them are researches.

Moreover, cyber server encourages students make learning appealing not only is

the information accurate, but it is also designed to engage students in a way that they find

entertaining. It is present in everything and allows students to find amazing convenience.

Although there are still internet-free tools and resources, it also helps speed up the job and

makes the researches of 8-Linnaeus in Araling Panlipunan speedy, basic, simple, and gives

off mostly accurate information.

2. Statement of the problem

This research aims to know the effects of internet in achieving Good outputs in Araling

Panlipunan of grade 8-Linnaeus.

This study specifically aims to seek the following:

1. What is the number of students using internet in making outputs?

2. What is the number of students who doesn’t use internet in making outputs?

3. What are the performance of those who use internet?

3. Significance of the Study

Internet is essential especially in the field of education. Nowadays, internet has a

big role in the section 8-Linnaeus. The internet helps achieve good results specially in

making outputs it also helps assist and enhance the entire learning process.

Internet is included as a part of the Special Science Curriculum, as an instructional

system. Section Linnaeus consider the internet as a big asset. Internet helps students in 8-

Linnaeus do things differently than books and is also geared towards inquisitively in the

mind of the students.

4. Scope and Limitation

The general intent of the study is about the effect of internet in achieving a good

output in Araling Panlipunan of 8-Linnaeus. The research sample is collected 36

students in section Linnaeus. This research used descriptive in which it used an

observation about the effects of internet in achieving good outputs in Araling

Panlipunan of 8-Linnaeus.

The study focuses on the results of the outputs in Araling Panlipunan of 8-

Linnaeus by using the internet. Dealing and intervening with the other effects of

internet in achieving a good output in Araling Panlipunan of 8-Linnaeus.

5. Hypothesis

The researchers’ formulated hypothesis for this study are:

 The use of internet in Araling Panlipunan is more effective than without the

use of internet.

 Majority of the 8-Linnaeus uses internet in making outputs

 Students in 8-Linneus that uses internet will have a good performance

compared to those who doesn’t use internet

Methodology

a. Research Method Used

The researchers chose descriptive method because it is best served to answer the

questions and the purposes of the study. Descriptive method is used to describe

characteristics of a population being studied. The research examined the effect of internet

in achieving good outputs in Araling Panlipunan. The researchers conducted an interview

between the boys and girls in 8-Linnaeus asking who uses internet and who doesn’t use

internet in achieving good outputs in Araling Panlipunan. It is consistent with qualitative

research methods that the focus of the study may be further shaped in process by the

emergent findings.

b. Population and Sampling

Thirty six students from 8-Linnaes were the respondents for this study. These

students in 8-Linnaeus will be interviewed on how many who use internet and those who

don’t in making an output. In which will be known in performance who has the best result.

c. Instrumentation

The first instrument used was interview to find who uses and who doesn’t use an

internet in achieving good outputs in Araling Panlipunan. The second instrument is the

result of their academic excellence that will be taken to their Araling Panlipunan teacher.

d. Data gathering procedure

To obtain the data for this study the researchers made a based on the question

number 1 in the statement of the problem that asks of what is the number of students using

internet in making outputs. The data will be obtained from the teacher of grade 8-Linnaeus

in Araling Panlipunan to find the performance of those who use internet and those who did

not use internet.

The students will were given a question prior to the students who does and doesn’t

use internet. After that the researchers will analyze and interpret then compare and will

be put in the bar graph.

e. Statistical Treatment

Upon completion of this procedure, the number of students who does and

doesn’t use internet in making outputs is counted and recorded. The average population

densities of each of the students, this sum was recorded, and the sum was subtracted by the

students who is using internet. Finally, a comparison was made between the students using

internet in making outputs and who doesn’t use internet in making outputs. If the former

figure were higher, the hypothesis would have been rejected; but if it were lower, the

hypothesis would have failed to be rejected. No formal tests of significance were

undertaken.

There are 12 out of 19 females who uses internet in making outputs in Araling

Panlipunan while there are 7 out of 17 males who also uses internet in making outputs in

Araling Panlipunan.

Panlipunan while there are 10 out of 17 who also uses internet-free sources in making

outputs in Araling Panlipunan

There are 1,114(92.83) general average for the girls who uses internet, when multiplied by the

percent (1,758) then divided by 100 is 195.85%

The general average for the boys who uses internet is 643(91.86) when multiplied by the percent

(1,553) and divided by 100 is 99.86%

There are 644(92) general average for the girls who uses internet-free sources, when multiplied

by the percent (1,758) then divided by 100 is 113.21%

The general average for the boys who uses internet-free resources is 910(91) when multiplied by

the percent (1,553) and divided by 100 is 141.32%

The girls in 8-Linnaeus who uses internet has the greater performance (195.85%) than the girls

who use internet-free sources (113.21%). The boys who uses internet-free sources in making

outputs in Araling Panlipunan has the greater performance (141.32%) than the ones who use

internet (99.86%).

The overall grades of the girls in 8-Linnaeus who uses internet-free sources are 1,115(92.91)

average that if multiplied by the percent (1,760) and then divided by 100 is 196.24%.

The overall grades of the boys in 8-Linnaeus who uses internet-free sources are 645(92.14)

average that if multiplied by the percent (1,556) and then divided by 100 is 100.36%.

The data revealed the girls in 8-Linnaeus that uses internet-free sources has greater grades

(196.24%) than the boys that has the least general average of grades (100.36%) but is less than

compared to the girls who uses internet.

The general average for the girls who uses internet-free sources is 645 when multiplied by the

percent (1,760) then divided by 100 is 113.52%.

The general average for the boys who uses internet-free sources is 911 when multiplied by the

percent (1,556) then divided by 100 is 141.76%.

Based on the results the boys in 8-Linnaeus has the higher grades (141.76%0 than the girls

(113.52%) and the boys who use internet (100.36%) in making outputs in Araling Panlipunan.

From table 6, six boys uses Google and seven for the girls overall 13(68.42%) of the respondents

use Google as their search engine, none uses yahoo, none uses Bing, 1 boy uses the other engines

and 5 for the girls, overall 6(31.58%) use other engines. The findings revealed that more of the

population 13(68.42%) use Google search engine.

From table 7, 6(31.57%) use the internet to aid research, 1(5.26%) use the internet to prepare for

examinations and tests, 12(63.16%) said the internet helps in assignments. The findings revealed

that a greater proportion of students uses internet in making outputs in Araling Panlipunan.

3(17.65%) use the internet to aid research, 4(23.53%) use the internet to prepare for examinations

and tests, 10(58.82%) said the internet helps in assignments. The findings revealed that a least

proportion of students uses internet-free resources in making outputs in Araling Panlipunan

Summary

The research study has clearly outlined the effects of internet in achieving good outputs in

Araling Panlipunan of 8-Linnaeus. One of the objectives of the research was to determine if

students had good outputs in Araling Panlipunan with or without internet. Although many

students admitted that the internet does help with research, many of them also refer to sources

such as books and journals. This data lead to conclusion that while most of the students are quite

heavily dependent on the internet, they are not totally dependent and are capable of using various

sources for making outputs in Araling Panlipunan.

Overall, the results of this study show that internet is more used in 8-Linnaeus in making outputs

in Araling Panlipunan. The results of the data show that upon use of internet there is an increase

of scores of their outputs in Araling panlipunan 92.83(195.85%) general average of their

performance for the girls and 91.86(99.86%) for the boys. Majority of the students in 8-Linnaeus

use Google as their search engine. From the research done it was also found that students who use

internet have higher grades 92.91(196.24%) for the girls and 92.14(100.36%) for the boys than

the ones who use other internet-free sources 92.14(113.52%) girls and 91.1(141.76%).

Conlusion

The purpose of his study was to investigate the effect of internet in achieving good outputs in

Araling Panlipunan of Grade 8-Linnaeus. It was paramount for this kind of study to be conducted

so as to determine the ones who use internet and who don’t among the students, to determine the

influence of internet services on making outputs for Araling Panlipunan, and to find out also the

most used internet services in making outputs for the subject Araling Panlipunan. The findings of

the study indicate that students do not avoid the internet-free resources such as books in satisfying

their information needs. They use both books and internet, although the internet is used more than

books and it is also the most preferred source of information. The study reveals that internet has a

great influence because the performance of those who use internet that has an overall average of

93.18 for the girls and 91.86 for the boys has the greatest values while for those who use internet-

free sources that has an overall average of 92 for the girls and 91 for the boys which has the least

value on 8-Linnaeus in achieving good outputs in Araling panlipunan.

Recommendations

The students in 8-Linnaeus should use internet in making outputs, students should also be

responsible and always do thorough comprehension in finding answers in the internet. It is still

better if both internet and internet-free sources such as books are used and make their outputs

very accurate. Students should be more encouraged to often access the internet and internet cost

should be reduced for those who have financial problems.
