Fuel System Checks

IMPORTANT: For this, and subsequent chapters of this Manual, if an item of
equipment requires change out for any reason, an entry must be made in the Site
L Change Out Sheet located in Appendix 26 of this Manual. This document must
then be returned to Houston when the Installation and Commissioning
procedures are complete.

Gas Fuel System

IMPORTANT: Prior to connection to the turbine skid, it is the CLIENT’S
RESPONSIBILITY to ensure that the gas fuel supplied conforms to SIEMENS

L Fluids Specification 65/0027 located in Appendix 5 of this Manual.

Note: Prior to dispatch, the turbine gas fuel system from skid edge up to, but not


inclding, the flexible connection to the gas fuel manifold will have been leak
tested to 110% of maximum design pressure. A compliance certificate will
accompany the turbine package. Providing the gas fuel has not been disturbed,
SIEMENS requires no further testing.

Check and make sure that safe access is adhering to local/site
and SIEMENS safety policies and instructions prior to any
inspections/checks taking place. Make sure assembly is
complete both on and off the turbine package as per the
contract specific P & ID. Note the reference document below.

Check that all pipework, valves, plugs, instrumentation and

supports are complete and secured.

 Note: Client is to verify all off-skid pipework is proven clean and certified.

3 Verify that the off-skid filters have the correct elements fitted.

Ensure availability of the fine mesh commissioning screen, to

be inserted at the skid edge as the commissioning screen.

 Note: Ensure commissioning screen is removed after the Commissioning

procedures are complete.

Ensure that all associated valves are left in the correct position

in accordance with the site specific P & ID.

1 WARNING: High pressure gases are extremely dangerous. Take all precautions
to ensure all personnel are aware testing is taking place.
When instrument air is available, make sure the operation of
the solenoid operated valves is as per the contract specific
P & ID. Note the reference document below.

to ensure all personnel are aware testing is taking place.

Client to verify gas fuel supply line to skid edge has been

Nitrogen purged prior to allowing gas fuel to be fed to turbine.

Commission and check the operation of the fuel control

2 valves. Information regarding these valves in located in
Appendix 6 of this Manual.

 Note: Ensure that leak checks are performed during the initial running of the
turbine. See Chapter 24 of this Manual for more information.

Liquid Fuel System

a CAUTION: Ensure electrical isolation of all fuel pumps prior to continuing with
this section.

IMPORTANT: Prior to connection to the turbine skid, it is the CLIENT’S

RESPONSIBILITY to ensure that the liquid fuel supplied conforms to SIEMENS

L Fluids Specification 65/0027 located in Appendix 5 of this Manual.

Inspect and ensure that there is safe access by adhering to
local/site and SIEMENS safety policies and instructions prior to
any inspections/checks taking place. Ensure assembly is
complete both on and off the package as per the site specific

6 main shutoff valve, bleed down all filter pots, and check that
the filter pop-up indicators are in the correct position.

a CAUTION: DO NOT run pumps dry. Damage can result to pumps.

a CAUTION: Ensure liquid fuel pressure is within specified limits before

introducting to skid.

7 Prime liquid fuel pump.

8 Check and record rotation of liquid fuel pump.

Liquid Fuel Throttle Checks

Check the operation of the liquid fuel throttle by driving it
1 from the UCP throughout its range. Verify the feedback signal
being used by the UCP matches the demand to within 5%.

 Note: Ensure that leak checks are performed during initial running of the turbine.
