7Es LESSON PLAN in SCIENCE 10

Inquiry-Based and Contextualized Teaching Approach

Coordinated Functions of the Reproductive, Endocrine, and
Topic: Nervous Systems
CODE: S10LT-IIIa-33
Grade Level Grade 10 Guyabano & Makopa – Force, Motion and Energy
Time Allotment 1 hour (9:52 – 10:52) (2:18 – 3:18)
This lesson addresses on the understanding of organisms as
Rationale having feedback mechanisms, which are coordinated by the
nervous and endocrine systems.
Prerequisite
-
knowledge & skill
K-12 CG for Science 10, Teacher’s Guide, Learner’s Material, You
Learning Resources and the Natural World Textbook, Laptop, PPT presentation,
Pictures, Pop sheets, Meta-strips, Illustrations
Prepared by DALE MARIE P. RENOMERON
Learning Competency and Objective
Describe the parts of the nervous, endocrine, and reproductive system along with their
functions.
Subtask: Describe the parts of the nervous system along with their functions.
S10LT-IIIa-33
ELICIT
Learners will be introduced to some terms/words. Then let them recall the biological
organization of an organism and enumerate the different organ systems.
ENGAGE
Pictures of different organ systems will be presented to the learners.

Process questions:
1. What can you see on the images? How do you think do these organ systems work
together?
EXPLORE

Activity 1.1: Odd Organ Out! (Source: Test Item Bank for Science 10)
Learners will identify which organ does not belong to the group.

Activity 1.2: Break It Down! (Source: Test Item Bank for Science 10)
Learners will identify the parts of the Nervous system.

EXPLAIN

Have the learners post their outputs on the board and have one member of each group to
present the output.
Key Question:
1. How will you differentiate the Central Nervous System (CNS) and the Peripheral
Nervous System (PNS)?

ELABORATE
The class will be directed to read the Key Concepts.
Questions will be asked to deepen the discussion;
What happen to the human body if one part of the nervous system fails to carry
out its function properly?

EVALUATE

Directions: Match the parts of the Nervous System with its functions. (Source: Test Item Bank for
Science 10)

Functions Parts of Nervous System
1. The large, upper part of the brain that A. Spinal cord
controls activity and thought.

2. It is found inside the skull that B. Cerebrum

organizes and distributes information
for the body.
C. Brain
3. It connects the brain to the spinal
cord and controls automatic
functions such as breathing, digestion, D. Cerebellum
heart rate & blood pressure.

4. It is found under the cerebrum that E. Brain stem

controls posture, balance and
coordination.
F. Spinal Nerves
5. This serves as channel for signals
between the brain and the rest of the
body.

EXTEND
