Language Arts Remediation Plans

Monday Writing SOL: K.8.1 –Demonstrate early concepts of print
Group Lesson:
1-4-16 1) Letter Sound Recognition (Nazalie, Michael, Sean and Kendall) = TSW be reviewing
letter sounds by playing the Letter Sounds Dot Board Game. TSW will focus on letters
Aa-Ff. Each student will take turns rolling the dice. However many they roll, is how
many dots they have to move. Whatever letter they land on is the letter sounds they
will have to identify. If they do not get it correctly, they will have to move back to
spaces. Whoever gets to the end of the board wins. Materials: Letter Sound Dot
Board, Bear Manipulatives, and dice.
2) Writing (John, Maya, Avyion, Amirah and Tiana) = TTW go over with students how
they will be writing about their favorite thing they did over break. TSW be working on
writing two sentences and making sure to add detail. TSW draw a picture once they
are done writing their two sentences. Materials: Pencils and writing paper.
*Pull Michael to write his ABC’s and his first and last name.*
*Pull Nazalie and Sean to write their first and last names.*

Tuesday Writing SOL: K.8.1 –Demonstrate early concepts of print
Group Lesson:
1-5-16 1) Letter Sound Recognition (Nazalie, Michael, Sean and Kendall) = TSW be reviewing
letter sounds by playing the Letter Sounds Dot Board Game. TSW will focus on letters
Gg-Ll. Each student will take turns rolling the dice. However many they roll, is how

vowels and how they each make two sounds (long and short). TTW show the students
a picture card and each student will get a turn to identify the picture and which short
vowel is in the word. When the student correctly identifies the vowel, they will put it
under the correct letter. TTW continue to do this with each student in a round robin
style. Materials: Vowel Picture Cards and Chart.

Board, Bear Manipulatives, and dice.
2) Beginning Blend Activity (John, Isabella, Maya, and Tiana) = TTW go over with
students the different beginning blends. TTW go over the different sounds that the
blends make. TSW each be given a set of ice cream cone blend puzzles. TSW have to
match the picture to the blend. Materials: Ice Cream Blend Puzzle Pieces
