2. INTRODUCTION:
It is essential that the repair shop understand all background history associated with the nature of
defect, cockpit effect and fault messages when they tried to simulate it at the test bench. The
supporting document when attached along with LRU significantly reduce the No Fault Found (NFF)
return of LRU from the shop and its associated cost.
3. DISCUSSION OF SUBJECT:
In case supporting data is not provided with the LRU, the cost of the Repair Shop test will be borne by
the airline. This policy mainly applies to Electronic and Electrical Equipment and does not include
proximity switches, pressure transducer, circuit breakers etc
4. ACTION:
a) All Certifying staff are hereby advised that whenever any LRU is removed and declared un-
serviceable, the following data should be attached along with the Unserviceable Tag:
i. The initiating Pilot Report (PIREP) and/or Maintenance Report (MAREP) and Post Flight
Report (PFR), as applicable, and
ii. The BITE test results, Trouble Shooting Data (TSD) or Class 3 messages printout as
applicable.
iii. In case of LRU removal due intermittent failure and / or Fault Not Confirmed by BITE, the
PFR message indicating the associated ECAM message shall be provided along with the
troubleshooting data.
