Introduction

Nowadays, people spend a lot of time to work and many appear restless and stressed. Stress is
a condition where someone had much pressure and lack of relaxation. People gets stressed when they
are faced with huge load of their monotonous daily work. Fortunately, there are many kinds of
relaxation and on of it is taking a vacation.

However, vacation takes time, money and energy and many people want to enjoy simple
qualified vacation .They do not have time to deal with vacation which requires a lot of time. Based on
this condition, people created hotels as an answer. Staying in hotels is a simple vacation. Most people
like it because it is practical, easy to reach and saving time. Hotels provide different segment like lodging
accommodation, food & beverage, travel and tourism, and recreation. The demands for hotels are
increasing and hotel grows rapidly to fulfill the demands of the society.

Guest choses a hotel and expects a clean , comfortable and relaxing surrounding . In addition to
tidiness and sanitary ; the housekeeping department are responsible on maintaining the standards of
hotel. Housekeeping is a crucial part for the growth of a hotel or Hospitality business. Good standards
ensure better sales and satisfied customers. The effort this department puts in has a direct impact on
the guest experience in a hotel 1

The Housekeeping department is one of the departments in the hotel organization whose
primary responsibility is to keep the hotel area clean and tidy. The success and credibility of the hotels’
business depend mainly on their quality standard practices. The team maintains the right image and
reputation of hotel by providing excellent services through standard practices. (Phillips,2017)

Housekeeping standard practices are vital to the hospitality industry because they promote and
guide the performance of the room attendants. Housekeeping standard practices are also used to
provide framework for developing the quality competency checklist for a hotel. (Davis,2014)

Housekeeping generates the first impression on a guest’s mind. The housekeeping efforts clearly
show how the hotel will take care of it’s guests. Nothing repels guests more than poor housekeeping .
The hotels cleanliness immedietly sets the tone for quality. Just one negative review can lose hotels
