Managing the chart database
Automatic chart updates:
• The chart suppliers will offer different updating procedures
• It can be done by connecting the system to the supplier’s server through
the internet, by CD, DVD, floppy or USB flash disk
Common actions:
• Search automatically
• Register manually
• Update database

Manual updates is only to be used for official chart updates
Two categories:
1. Objects or
2. Notice To Mariners
Objects is used when entering chart
changes without official references
Notice To Mariners command demands
information obtained in Notice to mariners
received from the authorities
• Refer; Adding Mariner object in the Operator manual

Available charts in Chart catalogue
• All available charts may be viewed by clicking the Setup
menu followed by Chart and Chart Catalog commands
• Select the chart category that should
be displayed, and confirm by clicking
OK
• All charts in selected category will be
indicated with a red outline
Displaying the Chart legend:
• Information about active chart may be displayed by clicking
the Setup menu followed by Chart and Chart Legend commands

Displaying the Chart Summary report
• A summary report of official authority’s update files may be displayed by
selecting the Setup menu followed by Chart and Summary Report
commands
The report contains the following information:
Aut. ID Identification of issuing authority
Edit Date Date for issued update
Edit Nr. Edition number for issued update
Num Updates Number of updates in the
affected cells for the issued update
Update Files Cell identifier of cell affected
Created Date of application to SENC format
Path: where the update is stored on computer

Installing a chart database
• The CS68 system has pre‐installed word‐wide C‐Map ENC
charts distributed by Jeppesen Marine, together with C‐MAP
CM‐93 Edition 3.0 (CM‐93/3) chart database to cover areas
where no official charts are available
• The CS68 system does also allow for installing and using charts
in S57 and S63 format from any other chart supplier

Installing C‐MAP license code
All C‐MAP chart management
is performed by using the
C‐MAP Chart Manager:
The pre‐installed C‐MAP database includes
detailed charts, but a license code for
detailed chart zones have to be obtained
from Jeppesen or your local Simrad dealer
before the system can be used

• Submitting the C‐MAP license code
– To obtain a license code from C‐MAP, the system ID must be submitted
to Jeppesen or to your local Simrad dealer
– The C‐MAP system ID is found on a label outside the CS68 computer
– It can also be found in the System ID field on the C‐MAP Chart
Manager:
Installing C‐MAP license code
• Applying the license code
– When the C‐Map license code is received this has to be entered into
the CS system before the C‐Map charts can be used
1. Activate the Licenses tab in the C‐MAP Chart Manager
2. Select the database for which you have ordered charts
in the Selected dataset field
3. Enter the code manually (Add manually key) or by
reading it from file (Import from file key)
4. Follow the instruction on the screen to complete the
installation
NOTE: If S57/S63 charts are to be imported, a free module license can be requested from Jeppesen
