— Operates in normal saline solution, which has an improved safety profile compared with
resection in a nonelectrolyte solution (glycine, sorbitol) due to reduced risk of hyponatremia1,2
— Hyponatremia is a potentially serious complication that can lead to cerebral and pulmonary
edema and/or cardiac arrhythmia2-4
Energy is delivered from the
generator to the tissue through
the active electrode
• Saline acts as a “valve,” automatically
returning the electrosurgical current to
prevent overtreatment or carbonization5
