Super Power of Owls

Eyes

Owls have large eyes, not only large but also very functional ones. It is said
that its eyes take 70% of the owl’s skull not like ours that is only 5%. An owl can see
x2.5 brighter than others. Using this vision, they can see small preys lurking during
the dark.

Ears

Ear tufts are feathers use for communicating mood. An owl’s head is
surrounded by feathers that supports them to hear. The fact is, its head is shaped
like a satellite dish, using it to receive and detect sounds of other animals. Some of
the feathers that covers the head of the owl is used to transfer and deliver sounds to
the ears that are hidden at the side of the face. The placement of their ears is not
symmetrical, meaning the other ear is higher while the other ear is in the opposite.
The reason behind the lining of the ear is because it is used to detect sounds. Even
if it is far and too low for the owl. They can hear even a tiny scratch of an animal
because they’re hearing is 10 times better and more sensitive than ours.

Head Rotation

They can turn their head to a perfect 270 degrees. It is a special factor that
can affect the hearing of the owls. As said in the video, if humans did that, we will cut
our blood supplies. Owls have much revised blood vessels that can perfectly rotate
their head without breaking them. Their head is the most flexible part of the owl’s
body for it can rotate, not all animals and birds can do that. Using the rotation, it can
be used by the owl to see and hear the prey directly from where it is.

Wings and Flight

The posture and movement of the wings of an owl is very graceful. They can
fly gracefully and beautifully in the air by using proper balance from proper training.
Some owls can train to fly without the help of other owls or the help of its owner. The
technique, lift and thrust is used by the owls to properly fly to the air. It is said in the
video that the air above the wings travels or passes much quicker than the air below
it. I noticed that without flapping the wings, nothing will happen. By the use of
flapping, the direction of the bird will be forward while tilting is for the left and right
direction. The air that is passed by the flying owl will rotate like a spiral. Between the
given owl, goose and falcon. The owl is the slowest, the goose is second and the
falcon is the fastest. Its description for the falcon is within its flat wings, it is really
made for fast flight and speed. The owl may be the slowest within the three, but I can
say that it’s movement of the wings is the most graceful of them all. They used a test
that can testify within who among the given birds are the silent flyers. Turns out, owls
are silent flyers. It will make a sound because of the wings and the feathers, it’s
generating them. Unlike the others, owls have a set of feathers that doesn’t make a
sound.

Predation

Using the silent flight, it is much easier for the owls to capture their prey with
this power because the prey won’t hear a thing when the owl is targeting them. Once
they know the location of their food, they will find its location until they know where it
is. They will position themselves directly hitting the spot of the prey. Using its deadly
claws, once you got hit by it, it’s as strong as the bus hitting other buses. If they
captured the prey with their claws, it can be assured that the animal is dead.
