1.0 Introduction

Business industry is always on the move. So most businesses are often found on the

internet. Online reservation is one of the best traits in this generation. Online reservation module

enables the customers to choose from a variety of services offered by a certain establishment.

As usual, a salon is always crowded if the services are good and satisfying. Our solution

makes it easier for customers to book their time, date, service and also choose the staff that they

want to. This system will have a delete, edit, filter, add and secure the records of their precious

customers.

In this fast pacing world, the world is expecting innovation that makes the work light. That

is why the researchers are developing a system that will be able to help customers manage their

own time by not waiting in que for a long time. The researchers are developing a system that will

be able to make a reservation for the customer to choose their preferred services without causing

any hassle to themselves. A system that will display the services like haircuts, spa, nail care etc.
1.1 Background of the Study

The business La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa was founded on March 2019 by Jovelle

Deonon along with Anthony Andaleon. It is located along McArthur Valenzuela City near Our

Lady of Fatima University. It all started as a dream by Jovelle Deonon to start a salon business.

Ever since Ms. Jovelle Deonon was a child, Ms. Jovelle Deonon had always dreamt of making

people contented with how they look and help them achieve the look that they desire. Thus, the La

Velle Beauty Salon and Spa was born. The salon’s slogan is “The beauty always comes from

within” that states the outside beauty may be blinding and awe worthy but the beauty from within

is what always matters. Jovelle Deonon also wants the staff to be very hands on with the customers

that Ms. Jovelle Deonon taught the staff on how to do certain things such as styling of eyebrows

and nails.

The La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa is a newly formed business that offer services such as

haircuts, spa, massage, nail care and many more only to be carried out by the best teams of

professionals. The business aims to expand their business throughout Metro Manila. Even though

La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa only offers the best makeover experience, the price range of

services are very affordable.

La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa is highly competitive. That is why the business always try

to keep abreast with the latest trends in hairstyling, treatments and other services. In other words,

The La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa will either bring the best out in you or break you. The Lavelle

Beauty Salon and Spa only hires the best and the most respected people that are willing to teach
and to learn or explore new things about a certain service. Understanding the customer’s desire is

Solution

Proving knowledge for the staffs may greatly affect the business. The researchers have

concluded that the solution the La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa needed is a better training and

guidance to improve their performance.

Providing a better and manageable set of services is what they need to prolong the business

to get more customers. Providing a better set of services will also be easier for the staffs to practice

for they can specialize in a certain service. This will also widen the field of the staffs and get better

experience in handling customers.

Customer Service, every feedback is important. For it will determine on how well the

business is running. The better the feedback, the more likely the customer may come back or bring

other customers in. By improving the performance of the staffs and the services they provide, this

will most likely cause a better reputation for the business.


1.2 Objective of the Study

General Objective:

 To design and develop a Reservation Website for La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa

that will record the customers reservation of services, time and date.

Specific Objectives:

 To develop a Reservation module that will help to organize the reservation time for

the customers of a Velle Beauty Salon and Spa.

 To design a module that is simple and easy to use for the user so they will not

encounter any errors while browsing the site.

 To make a database that will provide the services that the customers needed and the

number of customers that will come in a certain date.


Scope and Limitations

The La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa Reservation System will enable the Ms. Jovelle

Deonon to manage the customer’s needs without the requirement for a costly website specialist.

This project will enable Ms. Deonon to update the services and provide a wonderful experience to

the customers. This will also provide knowledge for customers to use a more convenient way of

going to the Salon. With the use of an Online Reservation System created by the researchers, The

La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa will have their very own customer-friendly website that will make

a reservation for a certain date. This will provide a productive day for both the customer and the

staff. Using the Online Reservation System will enable the customers to book their preferred

services and staff that will accommodate them. This will provide a hassle free and this will avoid

the piling of costumers in the establishment.

The La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa Reservation System website may help the customers

on what date they want the service to be held, which of the services provided would they prefer

and the staff that will handle them. This system will also provide the name of the customer availing

the service, their address and their contact number. This system can be used as a logbook to collect

the customers for the day.


Significance of the Study

Salon and spa reservation system is intended to help both customers and staffs. The

reservation system is specifically made for customers. The system will enable users to edit,

remove, and choose their preferred date for their own pampering. With the help of the researchers,

the La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa can accommodate any customers with the use of internet for

this reservation system will be web based.

The Our Lady of Fatima University provides the College of Computer Studies to perform

a System Analysis Design. The subject performed will help the University ( Our Lady of Fatima

University) in terms of web based education for every single student. If the conducted study is a

success, it will acknowledge the school as a well performing school that every student needs.

Company

The La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa provides a top performing reservation system for

system. The survey conducted upon the customers, staffs of the company will help in the system

content. The reservation system intends to help organize the customers reserved date for this

system also helps the company to organize the number of customers availing their services. Thus

the customer fills up a form, their privacy is always at peace with the company. The system also

enables the customers to access and choose from a variety of staffs.


2.0 Review of Related Literature and Studies

This chapter is about studies and any kinds of research that are related to an online

reservation system. The references used (such as thesis, articles, and other web articles) helps the

researchers in providing further knowledge about the module.

A computer reservation system is a computerized system. This references are related in

booking a travel, or hotel reservations. These references will also guide the researchers in

following a certain format to improve and develop the system effectively. This system will enable

the users or customers to avoid manual reservation or booking. Having an online reservation

system helps todays living by providing a hassle free lifestyle.

The researchers picked an Online Reservation System for the business La Velle Beauty

Salon and Spa due to errors in providing a proper service for their customers. Also to prevent

stacking of customers due to reserving of services manually. The proposed system will include an

enter, delete, and edit of a certain reservation.

The following references also intends to give the customers the opportunity to browse the

history and reputations of the said business. This may also broaden the knowledge of the customers

upon booking a certain service. Most of the businesses on this generation are always seen in the

web. This helps the business to heighten the popularity of the business.

are always a fun destination for too late night peoples, after a busy day, it's nice to relax and have

a nice meal late at night. Because of the rapid increase of customers visiting the Tabrieza Resto

Bar, a common sight is the establishment's ad sophisticated Resto Bars for competitive advantage.

As the result of the competition between different Restaurants, various business strategies had

been made to attract customers, such as putting discounts, having beautiful and relaxing

environment and above all having a state of the art computer system and facilities. The current

problem observed is the manual customer's list records, the manual reservation of guests, the

manual booking of tables for the customer which takes a long time to accomplish. The customer

it a whole set of unique legal and management issues. For example, how do you manage security

on the site? Do you have a privacy policy posted on your website? What guarantees does it offer

says, you have to live up to it. If you say that no information about customers is ever given to third

parties, you have to abide by that without exception. If you say that you will do everything possible
to train employees and employ security measures to prevent hacking, you have to abide by that as

well. A number of companies have faced legal sanctions recently because of a failure to live up to

the promises made in policies they post on their websites. (Develop them carefully and review

them frequently to ensure ongoing compliance is essential)

Bituin Abi, (August 2017), 658 Apartelle Online Reservation System. Short term base

lodging is the main reason that a hotel has been established. In the Philippines, wherein many

foreign people go and have a vacation, hotel is always their first destination to have relaxation

after long hours of travel in an airplane. Because of the rapid increase of foreigners visiting the

Philippines for a vacation, a common sight is the establishments ad sophisticated hotels for

competitive advantage.

As the result of the competition between different hotels, various business strategies had

been made to attract customers, such as putting discounts, having beautiful and relaxing

environment and above all having a state of the art computer system and facilities. The current

problem observed is the manual guest list records, the manual reservation of guests, the manual

booking of rooms for the guests which takes a long time to accomplish.

Similar to the proponent’s study Altaroca Mountain Resort and Convention Center still uses

manual process of reservation.

UML HOTEL RESERVATION SYSTEM (2015)

Description with UML Hotel Reservation System. Developed a hotel management system

that can be used online. This system allows the guests to do their booking online by them self.

Some of task that the system can do are providing a query for arriving date and the length of

staying, providing the number of On rooms, view all available rooms and provides user the ability

to choose one or more of them, recording the number of on rooms, view all available rooms and

provides the user the ability to choose one or more of them, recording kind of guests and how

many going to be in the single room, providing the cost of booking, asking the users if they want

additional service; such as, dinner or breakfast, storing the guests detail; like, name, address and

telephone, asking the user for confirmation, final confirmation views with the detail of booking

and the guests can review or cancel the booking.

The proponents’ system also allows the client to do their booking online and make

transactions by them self. The proponents’ system also provides a query for arriving date and

departure date, view all the rooms and let the user choose what kind of accommodation they want.

Unlike UML Hotel Reservation System the proponents’ system do not include additional services;

such as, dinner or breakfast.

BORACAY GRAND VISTA RESORT AND SPA (2016)

The Boracay Grand Vista Resort and Spa has an online reservation system. It includes the

supervising of schedule, reserving facilities and rooms, guest information and confirmation of the

guests if they are sure to reserve some rooms. Customers do not need to create an account if they

want to go to the resort or to make a reservation.


Similarities of the proposed system includes reserving of the facilities and rooms in the

resort. Unlike the proposed system, the customer is required to make an account in order to make

a reservation or cancel a reservation. Making an account will help the company to make sure that

the customer’s personal information is secured and the company will be able to monitor the regular

customers.

WILSHIRE PLAZA HOTEL RESERVATION SYSTEM (2018)

The system has a login account for the customers. The reservation procedure includes the

arrival and departure date. It also indicates the rooms that are still available or not. Then the

customer chooses the room/rooms to stay in. the customer also fills-in the guest form and confirms

reservation. The billing/payment is done at the hotel upon checking.

Wilshire Plaza Hotel’s system is similar to the proposed system of the proponents. It also has

a login account for the customer for them to view their current and old reservations. The customers

could choose the dates, rooms, amenities, and the function rooms they want to reserve. However,

the initial payment and the full payment will be done by bank transfer and/or credit card.

HILTON CEBU RESORT AND SPA (2015)

This hotel has an online reservation system that checks if the customer has an existing

reservation. The customer has a confirmation code to enter if they have already a reservation in

that hotel.
The proponents’ system also has a database which can check if the customer already has

an existing account. And making an account will help the customer to cancel or reschedule their

reservation easier.

The Bug Hotel Reservation System allow one to find the ideal bed and breakfast inn,

whether by location, amenities, online bookings, recipes, special packages, last-minute

availability. It also offers a wide variety of additional information to enhance inn travel experience.

The hotel was designed to simplify the task of online booking. It provides users a unique, intuitive

and easy to use interface that improves the way people use the web today. Through personalization

and rich features, Bug Hotel Reservation system enhances the entire Web experience. Bug Hotel

Reservation System offers an online web based reservation system for hotels, properties, motels

and B&B’s at affordable prices.

Similar to the Bug Hotel Reservation System, Online Billing and Reservation for Altaroca

Mountain Resort and Convention Center allows every client to find the ideal bed or room that they

want. But unlike the Bug Hotel Reservation System they are not allowed to reserve food and

drinks. The proposed system of the proponents will also help the clients to experience more

convenient ways on how to book their reservations.

ONLINE BILLING AND RESERVATION SYSTEM FOR ROYAL PALM PARADISE

RESORT (2015)

The system contains two pages which are Administrator page and Customer page. The

administrator page has the authority to access the whole system and will be able to update all the

records of the customer for reservations made through phone call or walk-in customers, change

the status of the reservation of the customers, update the list of the facilities available in the resort.

Computation of bills of reservation and add-ons, and generating of reports are also under the

Administrator page.

The proponent’s system also contains two pages similar to the Online Billing and

Reservation System of Royal Palm Paradise Resort, wherein Administrator page will manage all

the transaction made by the customer/user. In Administrator page can all so see reports, update all

records and the list of the facilities in the resort.

The system has a feedback page that is redirected to a new browser where users will give

their reason for commenting, their comment, rating, about the website and their email address to

be able to send the feedback.


The proponent’s proposed system has also feedback page. The proponent know that

feedback page is a big help for the resort and for customer. To know all the suggestions and opinion

of the customers so that the resort can improve the services they give to the customers.

3.0 METHODOLOGY

This chapter contains the research process and methodology used in conducting the study.

The chapter contains research method, sources of data, research instrument and data gathering,

furthermore this chapter also contains the statistical treatment used in developing the system.

The figure above shows the conceptual framework of the La Velle’s Beauty Salon and Spa.

The hardware requirements are keyboard, mouse, monitor and printer. While the software used are

XAMPP, PHP and HTML. The system also requires an OS of Windows 10 or 8. To be followed

by the process requirements, identification of the problem and data gathering, plan, design,

develop, test and meet.

Research Instrument

The proponent’s tool used in gathering a data is questionnaires needed for the information of

the study. This questionnaire is distributed to the respondents to determine if the system in the salon

is usable. They can say if they are agreed on it or not.

Data Gathering

To gather the information the researchers needed for the study the following data gathering

were used:

Interviews

The researchers conducted an interview to collect information from one person to another.

The information collected are used throughout the data gathering process.

Even though the process is time consuming, this is very important because the proponents

can gather specific information and ask follow-up questions to inquire more details on a specific

aspect of the study. This helped the researchers in the exploratory stage of the research.
Internet Research

Browsing the internet for resources is one of the researcher’s best friend. The internet is one

of the most useful sources of information that the proponents used. These were useful in the

conceptualization of the methodology specifically in providing the proponents on the type of data to

be used and considered in the conduct of the study. By browsing the internet, the proponents had

gathered great information and ideas, which are related to the project by means of principles and

functions, like related literatures and related studies

School Library Research

Primarily, the school library is the main source of information of the proponents. The school

library provides a wide variety of reference materials. Magazines, books and previous studies are

used as a reference for the design and analysis of the study.

This part of the study will identify the hardware to be used to develop and accomplish the

system. This study will be impossible without the help of the hardware resources. The researchers

used laptops, mouse, printers etc.

SOFTWARE

In developing the system, the proponents used a Windows 10 as an operating system. The

proponents used was PHP, HTML and for the database is XAMPP. Upon designing the logo of the

site, the researchers also used Adobe Photoshop as a picture editor.

The researchers expected this type of cycle with the availing customers of the La Velle Salon

Beauty and Spa. In which the customer will decide if the customer wants a certain service for

themselves. Then the customers will go to the site provided by the researchers for the salon. From

there, they can choose which service or services will they avail. And finally after inquiring on the
salon’s site with the customer’s preferred date and time, the customers can go to the La Velle Salon

Beauty and Spa for the pampering the customers needed.

4.0 Results and Discussion

This chapter represents the results and discussion of the developer’s project. Respondents are

composed of customers and staffs of the La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa.

Project Description

The researchers gathered data and started developing the system immediately with the help of

PHP, and HTML as design and XAMPP for the database. All the guidelines and steps were abided

by the researchers by all means. From planning to executing the said plan and conducting a survey

among the customers of La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa. Also, with the help of the customers, the

researchers met the standards of the customers. That is why the researchers developed an online

ordering system for the customers of La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa. The said system was tested in

September 2019. Having guidelines, the system was executed and developed according to what the

customers desired.

Project Structure

The diagram shows on how the project must run in order to execute the reservation properly.

This includes the customer opening the website provided and choosing among the lists available

during the preferred time and date. Then after the arrangements done by the customer, the site will
notify the company. The company will then arrange the services in the said time and date, and the

staff needed.

After the arrangements of the company, the customer will now show up on the date that the

customer booked. The customer must receive the services that they booked for. The last process also

includes the payment of the customer on the services the customer preferred.

The project performed by the researchers was evaluated by the customers of La Velle Beauty

Salon and Spa. The following questions was asked by the researchers to define what the customers

want and the customer’s needs. This survey also criticizes the satisfaction of customers upon

receiving the services of La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa.


The following questions was also performed on the staff of La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa in

order to know how the staff would react in the system provided by the researchers. The following

5.0 Discussion
This Chapter represents the results and discussion of the System Analysis and Design. This

section summarizes the study by highlighting the results and findings conducted on the topic.

Furthermore, recommendations were based from findings and the conclusion of the study.

Summary

The purpose of the study is to create a web based reservation system for La Velle Beauty

Salon and Spa. In order to perform an organized system, the researchers conducted a survey among

the customers and staffs of the said company. People tend to care for their looks, even get

satisfaction in pampering themselves. A lot of people especially women tend to have make overs.

The proponents an Agile approach in creating the Reservation System for La Velle Beauty

Salon and Spa. The agile shows the step by step development of the system. First one is the Plan, the

proponents will make or build a proposal for the development of the system. Second is the design and

architecture, they will form a design and architecture considering the function of the system and the user

responsiveness. The third one is developing and coding, the proponents will now build the system hardware
and software that functions according to its usage. The fourth is the test to check if the system is working.

The last one is meet where the expectations should show up.

Conclusion

The proponents concluded that the Reservation System for La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa can

prevent hassle due to the overpopulated workspace of the salon. To avoid having lack of space, the

researchers provided a system reservation for La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa. This project will help the

customers and also the staffs in maximizing the time reserved for the customers of La Velle Beauty Salon

and Spa. This will also maximize the flexibility of the staffs of the La Velle Beauty Salon and Spa.
