ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION

As we have conducted a survey to the Grade 7 students of Colegio

de Immaculada Concepcion of Bulacan Inc. regarding “The general profile of
the usage of social media by Grade 7 students”. The information and the charts
below will show the analysis and interpretation of the data we have gathered.

1. What age did you start to use social media sites?

The chart above shows that 32 percent out of 100 respondents starts using social
media sites when they were 11-12 years old. Meanwhile, the population of
grade 7 students who started to use social media when they were 9-10 years old
is 30 percent and the remaining 27 and 11 percent students’ starts using social
media in the age of 7-8 years old and others respectively.

2. Who influence you in using social media sites?

 The chart above display the result of the data we have gathered about the
person who influence them in using social media. Out of 100 persons, 43 persons
stated that they are influenced by their family, 41% got influenced by their
friends and 16% answers others (that no one influenced them in using social
media) when they are asked to answer the questionnaires we have given them.

3. How long do you use social media in a day?

As we have conducted the survey, 32% uses social media in 1-2 hours, 27
students answers they are using social media in less than an hour, and 21% and
18% is for the 3-4 hours and more than 5 hours of usage of social media
respectively.
4. How often do you use social media in a day?

As we have conducted the survey, we have gathered data as shown as follows:

46 percent for less than 3 times, 24 percent for 4-8 times, 18 percent for more
than 5 hours and 12 percent for 9-11 times of use of different social media sites.
5. What social media platforms do you usually use?

The chart above shows the different social media platforms that is frequently use
by the Grade 7 students. 70% of it uses Facebook, 13 percent says they are using
other social media platforms; Instagram has 10%, and 7 students answered
twitter.

6. Are you aware that social media can harm your mental health?

As we ask Grade 7 students to answer the questionnaire we have given them,

we acquire data that is discuss as follows: 55% out of 100 respondents’ answers
that they are aware that social media sites can affect their mental health, 22%
answers no and the remaining 17% answers maybe.

7. Do you believe that there are benefits you might get from using social media
sites?

using social media when they asked about it, 37% answers that they do believe
and the remaining 24% answers no.

The chart above display the data we have gathered when we conducted a
survey. 48% answers that social media helps them to attain useful information,
25% says that it is a way to socialize with others, 22% stated that social media
entertains them and the remaining 5% says social media helps to unleash
boredom.

As we asked the Grade 7 students if they already experienced being a victim of

cyber bullying, we acquire the following data: 53% of it says that they are not
because they do not usually talk to others, 30 students says yes, and the
remaining 17 percent answers different reasons.

10. Can you stop using social media in a day?
