Virtue Ethics Analysis of the Case of Rolito Go et.al

Below is the ethical analysis of the case in accordance on virtue ethics.

Courage: 1. Rolito Go is full of courage which turned into arrogance that he immediately
shot Eldon Maguan though there was no accident that happened while they are both driving in
the same road.

2. The security guard who took up the plate number of Rolito Go after the
crime has showed courageousness when he took down the number of Go’s car
which was used in order to find Go and put him in prison.

Temperance: 1. Rolito Go has a bad temper, after his argument with his girlfriend in a
nearby bakeshop he went through a traffic which caused him to feel mad, and the nearly
bumping of car between him and Eldon Maguan which resulted to a crime. Rolito Go has the
absence of good temper. The argument between him and his girlfriend, being trapped in traffic,
and the nearly bumping between him and Maguan triggered his anger and cause him to commit a
crime which depicted the fact of the absence of good temper on him. If he is really a man of
good temper he would be able to control his anger and have done the right way in acting in such
situation.

Honor: 1. Rolito Go after shooting Eldon Maguan did not show any importance towards
his name and his family. He is carrying not just his own honor but the honor of their whole
family through his surname. He did not only dishonor one but all the Gos.

Sympathy: 1. Rolito Go did not show any sympathy in the case. He shot immediately
Maguan without recognizing that what if one of his friends is in Maguan’s situation or a member
of his family. Neglect of the principle of sympathy in a given crucial circumstances resulted to
crime. He did not think of what would Maguan’s family would feel. He did not think of the
goodness of Maguan in short. He was harsh that time.

Truthfulness: 1. The security guard who accurately gave the correct plate number of Go’s
car abides the virtue of truth in order to help the police arrest Go.

Justice: The justice that prevailed is a low criminal justice system, after which Go was
arrested he was reported missing to account the fact that the prison is guarded by legal officers
who should be performing their mandates in accordance with their duties and responsibilities as
legal officers. The liability of the police towards what had happened should be dealt with and an
immediate action should have been made.
