HOW TO OPEN A PASSBOOK SAVINGS ACCOUNT: A STUDENT’S

STANDPOINT

I went to a cooperative named Southern Leyte Employment

MultiPurpose Cooperative (SLEMCOOP). I was asked as to what type of savings
account I wanted to open. I said, “a passbook savings account”. “Well, you’re
in the very right and perfect place, sir (madam). We are very glad to
accommodate such students who would like to save (invest) their money. We
have this Savings- Youth that could cater your interest—we only need for as
low as 100.00 as your initial deposit”, they (as a whole) replied. I was glad.
They gave me a paper to fill out the needed information and signed it. Then,
I handed to them the requirements: the initial deposit of 100.00, 2 copies of
most recent 2 x 2 I.D. picture, and a photocopy of my school I.D. We waited
for at least 15 minutes. Finally, they presented to me the receipt and the
account summary of my deposit— the actual passbook was given the following
week.
