1. INTRODUCTION

Project is 200MWac (DT2) photovoltaic solar power plant located about 20km
away from Tay Ninh City to the northwest through Provincial Road No. 785 /
DT785, about 80km away from Ho Chi Minh City. Existing traffic road to the
project is relatively convenient, and there is local road to the site area.

Location of the project is shown in an image below.

2. OBJECTIVE OF METHOD STATEMENT

The objective of this method statement is to describe the procedures of electrical


cable installation work at solar power project.

3. SCOPE OF WORK
This procedure covers the general process, methods, equipment, tools, material
preparation for electrical cable installation.

4. EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS
• Insulation resistance tester, multi meter, Hi-Pot tester
• A ladder, scaffolds
• Hand tools, cable cutter
• Mobile crane, forklift
• Drum jack, roller
• Crimping tools
• Hot air gun

5. PROCEDURE
5.1 Installation of scaffolds, A ladder
Because some location the height of the cable tray and support exceeds the height of
person, the scaffolding and ladder must be installed.
The stability of scaffolds should be checked regularly.

5.2 Electrical cable installation
All cable drum should be stored in a suitable area, stand on firm and horizontally.
Coordinated with related party to occupy working area and duration (Drum setting,
temporary cable rolling).
When moving to site for installation, wooden support must be provided to prevent dirt,
damage and any injury caused by rolling cables drum.
Before cable pulling, cable drum shall be tested to ensure cable are good condition and
ready for pulling.
Cable drum should be clearly marked or labelled with information: Manufacturer’s
name or trade mark, rate voltage, number of core and specification, length of cable in
meters.
The cable route shall be inspected to ensure that the routing is completed and free from
any sharp edges (cable tray, ladder, conduit.).
Ensure that last revision drawings are used.
Cable roller should be placed along cable tray and corner to avoid touching with cable
tray.
Depending the weight and size of cable drums, suitable cable drum shaft, jacks shall be
used.

The cable drum shall be lifted by required equipment and placed on the jacks.
Cable pulling will generally start from one end of route length from other suitable
point if required.
Identify the “From” and “To” location of the cable and write the tag number on
respective location/equipment to make visible.
Before cutting the cable, both ends must be inspected to ensure sufficient length is
available for proper dressing and end termination.
Both ends of cable after cutting shall be protected by cable tape to avoid moisture or
water ingress.
Prepare required cable tags to fix on the cable after completion of cable laying. Fix the
cable tag immediately after laying of each cable. Don’t postpone tag fixing under
completion of all cables.
Cable inside cable shall be arranged neatly, fixed with cable tray by cable tie.
5.3 Electrical cable termination
Check that the cable gland size and type is correct for cable types and outside diameter.
Ensure correct length of cable end are available and prepare the cable for glanding by
removing the outer sheath, armour…
Complete the cable glanding assembly as defined by the gland supplier.
There are no excess armour showing or incorrect sheath length and sufficient crutch on
sheath exposed from gland.
Confirm IP washers, shroud and earth rings where applicable are installed.
The dressing of internal core and arrangement within the enclosure must be neat and
tidy.
Carry-out continuity and insulation resistance test on all core within all cables.
Terminate the cables in according with the approved termination drawing. Using the
correct core identification and termination materials.
Ensure that the termination pressure not excessive, correct size screw driver are to be
used to prevent flare-up or damaged on the terminal sockets.
Power cable shall be tightening and marking.
Ensure enclosure is properly cleaned-up prior to closure.
MV cable termination are well trained.

5.4 Electrical cable testing
After cable pulling completion, the cable will be tested for insulation resistance and
cable continuity.
In case MV cable, after cable termination kit installation is completion, Hi-Pot test will
be process.

6. HEALTH, SAFETY AND ENVIROMENT


Full care and precaution shall be given by field management for safety and sanitation
of the workmen in field to prevent accident during the execution of work. One of main
aspects of this procedure is safety and health control. This is to control prevention of
incidents, personal injuries as well as damaged to equipment and properties during the
entire construction period. In order to ensure a safety working environment during the
entire construction period, the following safety measures shall be implemented as
follow:
1- Health, safety analysis
Administrative control shall be applied for use to reduce potential of heat stress
e.g. provision rest shelter recovery area or stand by vehicle for each group.
Each worker shall be provided with drinking water during hot weather conditions
during working hours.
All worker shall be provided with and wear personal protective equipment (PPE):
safety helmet, safety glasses, safety shoes and long sleeve shirt. When working at
height full body harness should be provide.
All equipment and hand tools shall be checked in good working condition daily
before use, handmade tools are unacceptable.
15 minutes prior to works finish time, all working areas shall be clean of all debris
and disposed of designated garbage containers or areas provided by project.
The scaffold after installation should be check carefully by qualified personal.
All hot work (welding, gas cutting) should be provided fire extinguisher.
2- Environment
All diesel generator, portable machine shall have oil spill pan located to contain
any oil spilled.
