Situation:
Customer has an original 6541B coming up on HGP inspection and needs new
replacement-in-kind parts. Unit has Mk VI controls with DLN1 Advanced Extendor,
operating 8000 baseloaded hours per year on Natural Gas.
Economic assumptions:
• current price for power is $50/MWhr
• Fuel cost is $5/mmbtu for fuel
• Sells steam at $5/m-lb with no steam production hardware limitations
Oct ‘18 ✓ Reached ~2500 fired hours. Enhanced Borescope completed; no findings.
Dec ‘18 2nd unit install. Restart early January. Met output & heat rate estimates.
3rd unit install, finish March ’19. Met output & heat rate estimates.
Mar ‘19
1st unit has reached 8000 fired hours
Apr ‘19 4th unit install. North America region

Compressor blades and vanes with GECC-1
Compressor coated with Background
GECC-1 • GECC-1, a slurry coating with ceramic top layer,
provides improved erosion and corrosion resistance,
with minimal impact to compressor performance
• Moisture may be present in the compressor during
operation up to stage 5, where it usually becomes
warm enough to prevent condensation
Test Site
• Extremely corrosive environment, with previous
associated airfoil events
• No inlet air treatment used on site
• Hydrophobic HEPA inlet filtration system
• Minimal to no wet operations
Findings
GECC-1 coating • Unit operated for >25,000 hours
applied to a 6B
• No visible corrosion pitting was seen
Blade
• Minor coating erosion noted on forward
compressor airfoil leading edges
• Significant corrosion resistance improvement over
uncoated parts 51

Stainless steel rings for Stator Vane 1 -4
www.slido.com
ATQi now, available now #6BUC2019
• GE has introduced new SS stator vane ring segments for the Stage 1 stator
• Ring material changed from carbon steel to stainless steel
• SS rings have better resistance to corrosion and oxidation between the vane/ring
and the ring/casing interface
• Increased the number of ring segments from 6 to 12 → Easier to remove during
maintenance
• Direct replacement to the existing ring segments
• Shimless configuration
