Assignment 01

According to the class discussion last meeting, the education process is a systematic, sequential, planned
course of action on the part of both the teacher and the learner to achieve the outcomes of teaching and
learning. Teaching is a deliberate intervention that involves sharing information and experiences to meet
the intended learner outcome. On the other hand learning is the change in behaviour it may be in the
aspect of knowledge, skills and attitude in which can be observed and measured, and can occur at any
time or in any place as a result of exposure to environmental stimuli.

Every educator or every class has its distinct teaching styles to convey or share information to its students.
Some may be similar to one another. A teaching style of an educator may depend on many factors.
Factors like the educator’s motive of teaching or what the educator wants the learners to achieve after the
lesson. The educator’s method of teaching matters. In our FPE class or Fundamentals of Peace Education
class, it normally starts with the discussion or group discussion on the assigned work from the other day.
Then relating the assignment from the other day to the lesson of the day, then our professor starts the class
discussion on the lesson of the day with the use of visual and audio aids such as, PowerPoint presentation,
videos etc. During the discussion the professor encourage student’s participation by asking questions
relevant to the lesson. Afterwards the professor then gives us group activities that is due after the class or
assignments in the form of reflective work, online activities or reporting that is due the next class
meeting. The education process of the class then repeats each day.

I can say that the teaching style of our FPE professor does satisfy my needs and it also do justice to the
lessons that we had. I’ve learned something new in every class that we have with her. I can now relate the
ASSURE model that we have discussed during the class to our professor’s teaching styles. For instance
prior to starting the class discussion about the lesson for that day, she made sure to review what we have
learned from the last class discussion this act alone she made sure to assess our learning needs, readiness
to learn and make sure that her teaching styles is in line with our learning style. She also never misses to
discuss to the class the objectives of the lesson of the day. Selecting instructional methods and using
material is when she starts to discuss the lesson to the class she always use a PowerPoint presentation and
videos, once again she made sure that her teaching style is in line with our learning styles because some
of us learn more on visual stimuli and some of us learn by listening and some learn by both methods.
During the class she encourages us to participate with the discussion by asking as questions about the
topic that is being discussed or asking us to have some group activities. She then make sure to evaluate us
by having an assignment or group activities about the lesson and the process then repeat itself in the next
class meeting.

I am more of a visual and audio learner so personally I would like the class discussion to have more video
presentation because if the class is more on discussion without any drawings or visual stimuli, there
would be a great chance where I would feel sleepy and get bored thus explains my behaviour of using
phones during class. That is all I guess anything else is fine with me.
