Weighted Mean
A weighted mean is a kind of average. Instead of each data point contributing equally to the
final mean, some data points contribute more “weight” than others. If all the weights are equal,
then the weighted mean equals the arithmetic mean (the regular “average” you're used to).

Geometric Mean
The geometric mean is a type of mean or average, which indicates the central tendency or
typical value of a set of numbers by using the product of their values (as opposed to the
arithmetic mean which uses their sum).

Combined Mean
Combined Mean is a type of mean or average of two or more data that combined together.
Summation of groups over the number of items.

Advantage and Disadvantage

Advantage Disadvantage
Weighted Mean  Easy to calculate  Cannot average ratios
 Finite and not and percentages
indefinite properly
 Rigidly defined  Cannot compute
 Determined for almost accurately if any item
every kind of data is missing
 Mean sometimes
does not coincide with
any of the observed
values

Geometric Mean  Capable of further  Cannot calculate if

algebraic treatment any of the
 Rigidly defined and Its observations are zero
value is precise figure or negative
 Not affected by  May not coincide with
extreme values any of the observation
 Calculation is rather
difficult

Combined Mean  Easy to calculate  Cannot compute

 For two or more data accurately if any item
 Collective data is missing
 Same as weighted  Highly affected by
mean extreme values
