CONTENT STANDARD : 1.3 By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to understand and
respond to oral texts in a variety of contexts.

1.1 By the end of the 6-year primary schooling, pupils will be able to pronounce words
and speak confidently with the correct stress, rhythm and intonation.

LEARNING STANDARD : 1.3.1 Able to listen to and demonstrate understanding of oral texts by:

OBJECTIVE : By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to;


1. Listen to and demonstrate understanding of oral text by asking and answering
question.
2. Talk about an endangered animal.
ACTIVITY : Refresh the lesson by asking the meaning of word ‘Pollution’
 What is pollution?

1. Teacher shows a picture of a starfish/seaweed and asks pupils some question.
 Where are starfish found?
 What is the starfish related to?
 What is special about seaweed?
2.Classroom Discussion
 More about starfish and seaweed.
Group Work
1. In group, teacher lists all endangered animals on the board.
 Pupils select an animal, discuss and talk about it.
 Pupils can refer to books/internet for more information.
 Use all the questions above as guidance.

Get to know the poem
The poem is about the writer’s adventures during his imaginary holiday. Some
of the adventures were wrestling a jaguar, boxing a kangaroo, reaching the
moon, travelling to Mars, and grappling a Grizzly bear

1. Teacher asks questions about the poem.

 Ex: Who are the major characters?
What are they doing?
2. Identify and interpret difficult, figurative, metaphors, similes, idiomatic.
 Wrestled deepest sea visited fought grappled grizzly
Practise the poem
1. Teacher recites the poem and pupils listen.
2. Recite the poem, as a class, in group, in pair, as individually.
4. Practise in group.
 Perform the poem based on their creativity.
5.The poet went to many places and met many animals. What are the laces he goes to
and what are the animals he meets?
 Do you think this is a real holiday? Give reasons for your answer.

1. Write one stanza of this poem. Write about your own dream holiday.
