Each of us has our own philosophy of life.

It might be hard for others to understand

though to your own perception, you know you are right. In everything we do in a day,
unnoticeable it may be, there is a philosophy that is occurring.

Although we exhibit a lot of philosophy, we come to stand to only one philosophy and
carry it throughout life. Maybe it is from your parents who are always there reminding you to be
good in school, or your favourite character’s significant line. Whatever it is, as long as it goes
with your personality and who you are, hold on to it.

In a teacher’s point of view, the philosophy must reflect to the way he or she teaches the
class; glued to where the teacher stand the first time, talking inexpressively, parroting the book,
unable to peek if the students are coping up which might lead to misleading concepts is a lot
worse. Of course to improve it is to do the other way around, though it is what and who the
teacher is because of the philosophy he or she is carrying in his or her pocket. Does the
philosophy have to be being self-centred? Can the philosophy not be as wide as the ocean to
reach out failing sailors?

“Be kind” is all I could come up as my philosophy of education. Being kind does not
always mean being generous, being nice to, if not everyone, anyone. Being kind is being
understandable. Is ‘be kind’ reliable?

As a Kind Teacher, of course I have to look kind to show I am kind. To get to know
better and easier, simplest way for it, for me, is to make them draw of something, or an essay,
that describes their personality and what they will be. It may be a cliché but it is how I will see
my students as my students. If it is not enough, interview is the aid, though it still sticks to the
drawing or essay the student submitted. I will help them understand what is confusing or
concerning them.

In the class environment, I will observe them closely to how they are performing in the
given academic tasks. Timid or tardy students are unavoidable; the best solution, as the experts
have proven, is to group them to hatch themselves and dig in to the given task. And this will help
me see beyond their seats. This will reflect my teachings.

It is hard to meet the objectives the curriculum wants to, but I have to. I will pick the best
strategy, which is of help, to develop in them the basic or complex skills. I will not forget about
teaching them the universal values and teachings of life; like loving, sharing, caring, etc. It
would be a failure of me if my students cannot display these.

I might have had bits of the qualities of every philosophy, I should be Existentialist.
Although it is revealed the least, I have to be understandable—by understandable, I mean, they
can see me as their parent that taps on their shoulder. If they cry, I will say, “There, there.” If
they are angry, I will say, “It is okay. Let it all out.” If they are happy, I will say, “Do not stop.”
These are possible ways to make them feel at home. To make them comfortable and let them
understand who they really are a bit further.
