1. HARDWARE DESCRIPTION
The PC fitted with the MEMS application is called enrollment station. It is used to record
personal access control information. During this phase, called enrollment phase, the
alphanumeric data (first name, last name, etc.) and the biometric data (fingerprints) are
recorded. Once recorded, this information is sent to the MorphoAccess terminal, which
will use them to grant or deny access.
These MSO can be declined in their version with Fake Finger Detector (MSO 351 for
example).
The MorphoAccess terminal is installed at the access point you want to secure. It is
generally hung on the wall. It is made up of a screen, a keyboard and a fingerprint sensor.

The MorphoAccess terminal can control an electrical lock or communicate with an access
controller.
All the types of MorphoAccess, except the MA220, work in identification by comparison
of the fingerprint presented with the fingerprints of the database. Some are equipped with a
contactless card reader and can then work in authentication by reading the badge identifier
and checking the fingerprint presented with that of the database which corresponds to the
badge identifier or with the one encoded in the badge.
All available MorphoAccess are presented with their main features, when used with the MEMS software, in the following list:

A peripheral protects the MEMS station. To protect the access to the MEMS application
you must use:
− either a dongle in USB key form (SafeNet or Sagem),
− a parallel dongle connected to a parallel port of the station,
− or an MSO including the dongle functionality. In this case the MSO is used to capture
the fingerprints and to protect the access to the ES application.
The enrollment PC can be fitted with an SCM card encoder. This encoder is used for
customers who want to issue MIFARE contactless badges to their users. This option is
necessary if the system contains MorphoAccess MA120, MA220, MA320, or MA520
terminals.
2. SYSTEM ASSEMBLY
The system assembly is made up of a MorphoAccess and an enrollment PC. All of these
elements should be supplied and connected on the same network. For safety reasons, it is
recommended to use a dedicated network, separated from the company’s one. The system
assembly can work alone without integration in an access control system.
The system assembly can contain a MSO to capture fingerprints.

12. Troubleshooting
Possible only if a backup of the database is available.
Copy the most up-to-date backup of the enrollment database in the database location of
MEMS (by default C:\Program Files\Sagem\MAES) and re-enroll the persons who were
enrolled between this backup and the disk crash allocating them the same groups. These
persons must have the “Immediate Upload” status so that the load application changes the
status into “In Terminal” as the records are already in all the MorphoAccess.
================================================================
Question
A full load operation fails.
Answer
If a database load operation fails, a warning is displayed and three other attempts of load
are performed (after these three attempts, the load operation is considered as in failure).
This can occur if, for example, too many identifications were performed during the
downloading of the database. The only solution in that case is to launch a full load of the
database again.
================================================================
Question
What is the procedure to upgrade and migrate the MEMS.
Answer
The MEMS migration follows the MEMS version.
To remember, the MEMS version are like below
MAES 5.1 - MEMS 5.2 - MEMS 6.0.1 - MEMS 6.1
Note your MEMS version
> save your database,
> install the next MEMS,
> launch ESLauncher, in settings, "Main datasource" correspond to the new version,
> click on "migration", and get your old database (version N - 1),
> click on "Submit"*,
> That's OK,
>> Follow these steps until time to go to the last version.
Example :

How could you use the MSO Dongle.
Answer
The MSO Dongle is a dongle like others.
When you order your MSO, specify if you want a MSO Dongle VERIF or IDENT-LITE or
IDENT-PLUS.
After to install MEMS, MACI… licenses, you manage that like with a classic dongle (with
the license manager).
