DOT, Globe partner to promote sustainable and digital

tourism

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Tourism (DOT) and Globe have entered
into a strategic partnership for the promotion and digital transformation of the Philippine
tourism industry. This partnership entails jointly advocating for the adoption of sustainable
practices among all stakeholders concerned.

As the official telecommunications partner of DOT, Globe has also created a new
official tourism video to be used for domestic and international promotions. The video
encourages more travelers to visit the country and experience the warmth of the Filipinos.
It celebrates the beauty and uniqueness of the Filipino people – manifested through
culture and values – as reasons why “It’s Always More Fun in the Philippines.”

REFLECTION:

It is exciting thinking that Globe is to be working closely with DOT in promoting and
transforming the tourism sector. Through this partnership, they hope to realize their vision which
will be their vision with the Globe’s of becoming an integral part of the best travel experience in
the country. They also wanted to be at the forefront of connectivity, digitalization, and
sustainability through enhanced communications infrastructure, affordable digital tools and
solutions for businesses, and environmental protection and conservation efforts. This would bring
a great positive impact in the tourism industry.

Close to home: PH startup taps locals to promote
sustainable tourism

Tralulu provides an avenue for tourists to immerse in a community’s traditions and

culture. It aims to promote communities that are not well known for tourism, especially in
countries like the Philippines more popularly known for beach destinations.

Tralulu offers different travel experiences in several locations in the Philippines

including Binondo, Poblacion, and Quiapo. it also provides tours in indigenous peoples
communities such as the Abelling and Aeta tribes in Tarlac. These tours give the tribes
another source of income, further sustaining the livelihood and culture heritage of these
communities.

Reflection:

Behind every responsible adventure, jobs are generated, and nature is further
protected. Tourism, if done hand in hand with communities, is one of the best ways to
redistribute wealth.
