INTRODUCTION

Most of students didn’t know where they all genes came from because of our

today’s generation. We are all surrounded by machines and technologies especially the

young ones so they don’t have enough interest about where they get their genes and traits

but we believe that there have few children’s that confused of where their traits came from

and if they’re inherited in their mother or father. So, we came up to a survey to know and

help those people to know where their get their genes to have those color of their eyes or

the color of their hair. This will be their source of information to know where they get their

skin color or the look of their faces or something they are curious about. This survey also

help them to have more knowledge or idea on how they get their trait and where they

inherited and also this will help those kids to find out if they are a true kids of their parents

or not. At least they will know that information while they are still young and find their

true parents earlier.

I. CONTENT

A. RESPONDENT OF THE STUDY

The respondents or participants of our study are the Senior High School student

of San Sebastian College Recoletos, Canlubang. We will choose randomly a fifty (50)

students from junior high school to answer our survey.

B. RESEARCH LOCALE

The study will be conducted at San Sebastian College-Recoletos Canlubang

located at Wisdom Avenue, Carmel Ray Industrial Park 1 Canlubang, Calamba City

Laguna. This aims to determine the dominant and recessive traits that the participants

have.

C. DURATION

The study will be conducted from November 28, 2019 to December 12, 2019. One

(1) week is going to lend for data collection strategy and another one (1) week for data

analysis, drawing out of Conclusions and writing of papers.

D. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY

Through the findings of this study, the researchers provided information on how

genetics work for his or her parents. Specifically, this shall be beneficial to the following

groups:

To the researchers to have a deeper knowledge on how genetic and crossing over

traits works.

To the respondents to have a better understanding how genetics work for his or

her parents

To the future researchers, this will serve as their reference and can be a guide for

their future study.

II. PURPOSE

A. OBJECTVES

Through the survey, the researchers will identify which parent of the respondents

inherit more of their traits.

III. DEFINIITION OF TERMS

For better understanding for the junior high school students, the following terms are

defines conceptually and clearly:

Conclusion. A judgment or decision reached by reasoning or the end or finish of an

event or process.

Genes. In biology, a gene is a sequence of nucleotides in DNA or RNA that encodes

the synthesis of a gene product, either RNA or protein. During gene expression, the DNA

is first copied into RNA. The RNA can be directly functional or be the intermediate

template for a protein that performs a function.

Genetic Variation. Genetic variation is the difference in DNA among individuals.

There are multiple sources of genetic variation, including mutation and genetic

recombination.

Heredity. The passing on of physical or mental characteristics genetically from one

generation to another.

Traits. A distinguishing quality or characteristic, typically one belonging to a person.

IV. METHODS
V.

For gathering the data, the researchers choose the Senior High School students of

San Sebastian College Recoletos, Canlubang to be their participants. The researchers

try to gather data from the Junior High School but because of lack of communication

with them the researchers decided to do it with the Senior High School students.

The researchers used Google Forms to conduct a survey. Instead of using printed

questionnaires, the researchers chose this kind of survey questionnaire because it saves a

lot of money and time.

After getting the results, the researchers used a bar graph to show clear comparison

of the result.

VI. RESULT

The researchers come up to the following results and interpretations after the one

The first figure shows the comparison of the widow’s peak and straight hairline.

The table shows that the out of fifty (50) students, 80% answered that the respondents

inherited straight hairline from their fathers while 20% answered that the respondents

inherited widow’s peak hairline from their mothers.

VII. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

Upon the analysis of the respondents given by the Senior High School students of San

Sebastian College Recoletos, Canluban regarding their traits, there was indeed, different

inheritance between their parents. With the result given by the respondents, the

researchers recommend the following:

1. For the respondents and other students, that may be curious about their genes

and inherited from their parents, the can use the result as a reference to know what

inherited from their mother or father.

2. For the parents, for them to know what part of their body is inherited of their

children’s as their grow older. Also, this can be their instrument or tools to monitr and

trach the traits that been herited from them as the child grow older.
