CHAPTER 2

Method

This section presents the methods that will be used for conducting our study. It

includes the following: Research design, research environment, respondents of the

study, data gathering procedure, and data analysis.

Research Design

This study will be in a descriptive approach. It will utilize the level of attitude of

the respondents in answering the researchers’ made survey questionnaire. Descriptive

approach is used to describe the characteristic of a population being studied.

Characteristics such as descriptive categories are used in this approach. This will be

used for our study since the researchers will be studying on the level of significance of

academic interschool activities as of Holy Cross of Agdao.

The results will be considered in identifying the level of Significance of the

Academic Interschool Activities Participated by Holy Cross of Agdao as Perceived by the

Junior High and Senior High Students.

Research Environment

The study will be conducted at R. Castillo St. Agdao, Davao City, specifically at

the school of Holy Cross of Agdao, a private constitution offering secondary education.

It is located near the San Antonio de Padua Parish. The researchers will choose Holy

Cross of Agdao to determine the students participating towards the academic

interschool activities of Holy Cross of Agdao.


Respondents of the study

The respondents of the study will be randomly selected from the Junior High and

Senior High students of Holy Cross of Agdao for the school year 2019-2020. There will

be a total of 100 respondents for this study composed of male and female. The

researchers will choose their respondents from their same school to easily conduct the

study.

Research Instrument

The tool that will be used for this study is a survey questionnaire. The

survey questionnaire will contain the profile of the students in terms of age and gender

which answers the question number 1, the next part is the question and answer portion

which contains the respondents reaction, effects of academic interschool activities, and

also in determining their chosen academic interschool activities.


Data Gathering Procedure

The researchers will be guided by the following procedures:

Letter addressed to the Principal. The researchers will ask the school principal of

Holy Cross of Agdao for the permission to conduct the research before the actual

survey. The researcher will send a letter to the school administration that will be

addressed to the principal that will be noted by the research adviser in order to conduct

the survey for the selected students of the school. When done, the researchers will go

to their respondents and get the needed data. Afterwards, the researchers will

coordinate to the teachers for conducting the survey.

Distribution of survey questionnaire to the respondents. The researchers will

explain and discuss the purpose of the survey to the respondents, afterwards, the

researchers will distribute the survey questionnaires to the selected 100 Junior High and

Senior High students of Holy Cross of Agdao.

Analyzing the data. The researchers will collect the answered survey questionnaire

for analyzing the data. The data that will be gathered from the students will be

subjected to tabulation, statistical treatment, interpretation and analysis.


Data Analysis

In the analysis of the data, the following statistical tools will be used: Frequency

Count, Percentage, and Weighted Mean.

Frequency count and percentage will be used in question number 1, 2, and 3 of

the statement of the problem to determine the profile of the respondents, the effects of

academic interschool activities, and reactions of the respondents.

The Academic Interschool Activities by the Junior High and Senior High Students

of Holy Cross of Agdao will be treated through weighted mean and will be scaled as

follows:
