Surface finish
The zinc surface reacts with the oxygen from the air,
forming zinc oxide. By the interaction of water (rain,
humidity) zinc hydroxide is then transformed into a dense,
firmly adhering and water-insoluble coating of basic zinc
carbonate (patina).
This natural protective layer is responsible for the high
corrosion resistance of zinc.

Painting
Owing to the natural protective coating (patina) of basic
zinc carbonate, additional protective painting is not
required.
