TASK: Look at the following image. Analyse the Mise en Scene and describe
why the shot has been set up as it has. Remember to consider all five
elements.
Thor (The guy with the red cloak) looks to be bowing down before the king, he’s either being
crowned king or being exiled, you can tell from the way the king (The guy in gold) is standing. Also
you can tell he’s the king because of the authority he has over the other people in the room as well
as the light is shining on him more than most of the people in the room. Low-key lighting.

The costumes are very medieval and sci-fi. The props are very elegant and sleak, they aren’t bulky
and square. You can’t see any facial expressions as the lighting is very dark and most of the
characters are turned in a direction making it difficult to see.

The colours are very rich, the reds and golds pop and everything else doesn’t stand out as much as
the others do.
