Develop a new assay

Our customized Special Product Release (SPRCUS) program allows you to develop a new MILLIPLEX® map assay
which is fit for your purpose. We follow a milestone-based approach to generate an assay that quantifies your
exact proteins of interest. All assays are optimized to be run on any Luminex® instrument. A dedicated project
manager coordinates updates and data reviews during each milestone, offering you peace of mind that your
project is on schedule and meeting specifications.

Milestone 1: N
ew analyte development or testing existing analytes on a new sample type
(as required)
Milestone 2: Multiplexing of analytes and assay verification
Milestone 3: Kit manufacturing and QC range assignment

Reconfigure existing panels

Do we already have the analytes you are looking for validated for your sample type but
just not in one convenient panel? No problem — we have got you covered!
Our Special Product Release (SPR) program allows you to reconfiguring existing analytes by leveraging
pre-validated standards, beads, antibodies and buffers. Save your samples by reconfigure existing
analytes from three or less MILLIPLEX® map panels into one custom panel. We assess feasibility of analyte
combinations for you based on cross-reactivity, sample dilution and sample preparation.

Custom-made Multiplex Assays Aid Unique
Toxicity Tests for Bayer Crop Science
Before any agrochemical enters the late research and
development process, it needs to be tested for the
presence of certain hormone-altering effects. When
ingested, these chemicals known as endocrine disruptors,
can cause developmental problems during pregnancy,
abnormal growth patterns, abnormal reproductive
function and also trigger some forms of cancer.
Blanck’s team has a portfolio of hormones that is
measured onsite using multiplex assays. While ‘off
the shelf’ assays can come in handy, Blanck often
customizes these assays in collaboration with the
MilliporeSigma Custom Immunoassay team. “We
wanted them to optimize the kits so they could better
answer our questions,” says Blanck. “The standard Dr. Olivier Blanck and a colleague, Sandrine
curve for one of the hormones in an off-the-shelf Pernot, perform the multiplex assay and
kit was not optimal. It meant we had to dilute our examine data. Image courtesy of Dr. Blanck.

Immunoassay team did a great job by optimizing MILLIPLEX® map Multi-Species Hormone Magnetic

hormone. This enabled us to have a range of sensitivity
without having to dilute the samples.”

“We also had custom assays for four different Estradiol
hormones that weren’t available off-the-shelf,” Blanck Progesterone

continues. “This kit only had three analytes. When we T3
asked if it was possible to have a 4-analyte kit, they 10,000 T4
did it.” One of the customized MILLIPLEX® map kits
used by Blanck’s team measures thyroid hormones
and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), while another

measures steroid hormones such as estradiol, cortisol,
progesterone, and testosterone.
“These two kits are very important for our
endocrine disruption projects because we need 100
accurate reporting of hormone levels. If you
don’t have the kits that correspond specifically
to your scientific needs, it can get very
challenging,” Blanck admits. “Also, the 10
