1.1.1 Inform operators of the schedule of works on and closure of Runways, taxiways
and aircraft stands, and the extent of the facilities affected due to construction
activities on the aircraft movement areas.
1.1.2 Redefine Hot Spots at Mumbai International Airport, during the work period on
RWY 09/27, when only RWY 14/32 is in operation. (Annexure D)
1.1.3 Describe the pushback procedures for departing aircraft at affected aircraft stands.
(Annexure C)
1.2 This AIP SUP does not show changes due to ongoing works at South West Pier
development at CSI Airport.
1.3 The information detailed in this AIP SUP is for the period 21 October 2010, 0431
UTC (1001 IST) to 1st July 2011, 0430 UTC (1000 IST).
2.1 See Annexure A, for schedule of closures of affected runway, taxiways and
Aircraft stands.
2.2 See Annexure B2 to B11 for Charts/ layout of affected runway, taxiways and
aircraft stands.
3.1 See Annexure C for the pushback procedures for departing aircraft at affected
aircraft stands.
3.2 Simultaneous pushback is not permitted for these aircraft stands until further
notice.
With effect from 21st October 2010 up to 1st February 2011, major drain works,
reconstruction of Runway 27 End and RWY 27 RESA works from a distance of
187m west from the Runway 27 Displaced End, and 310m west from the Runway
09 Displaced Threshold / Runway 27 Displaced TORA/TODA End, resulting in
the following major changes:
4.1.1 RWY 09 threshold is further displaced by 322.5m. East, from its existing location.
4.1.2 Revised Declared distances:
4.1.3 **The declared end of RWY 09 TORA, TODA, ASDA and LDA is adjacent to
TWY N3, resulting in a declared ASDA of 2850m and a declared LDA of 2727m.
Note must be taken that TWY N3 is closed simultaneously with the RWY 27 End
works. To provide an Exit Taxiway at the extremity of RWY 09, the RWY 09
End Lights is placed at the physical extremity of RWY 09. This has the following
impact:
4.1.3.1 240m x 100m RESA is available beyond the declared end of RWY 09
ASDA/LDA.
4.1.3.3 The end of RWY 09 ASDA/LDA can not be declared at the physical extremity of
the runway, as sufficient RESA is not available.
4.1.5 Lighting:
Threshold, Edge and End lights are available.
4.1.6 Ground aids:
1. Localizer is available.
2. PAPI is available.
3. GP not available.
4.2.2 RWY 27 end is shifted by 340m which is located at 11.5m west of extended C/L
of TWY N9.
4.2.3 Runway 27 TORA/TODA End is displaced by 463m, from the existing RWY 27
end to allow for clearing of obstruction on the work site (machinery).
4.2.5 Ground Marking: Threshold, C/L, Aiming point, TDZ, Edge and End marking is
available.
4.2.8 In case visibility falls below 5000m and RWY 14/32 cannot be used for landing
or take-off, all works in localizer critical area of RWY 27 is suspended. RWY (
ILS) restoration time is 30 minutes.
5.1 Runway 09/27 is shortened, on the Eastern End of the Runway, by 258 metres for
resurfacing works and the construction of a 24 metre wide channel for the
widening of the Mithi River. The declared distances for takeoff and landing are
shown below:

5.2 The last available exit taxiway on RWY 09, between 1st February 2011 to 1st June
2011, is TWY N3, which is 3050 metres from Runway 09 threshold.
5.3 The last available exit taxiway on RWY 27, between 1st June 2011 to 1st July
2011, is TWY N, which is 2965 metres from Runway 27 threshold.
5.4 Instrument Landing System (ILS) for Runway 27 is available daily during all
operational hours.
5.5 Instrument Landing System (ILS) for Runway 09 will not be available during this
works.
6.1 Runway 09/27 is closed for resurfacing works daily, Monday to Saturday between
0330/1130 UTC (0900/1700 IST) from 01 November 2010 to 01 June 2011.
6.2 Closure of the runway is indicated with white crosses and lighted crosses placed
at both ends of the runway.
6.3 There is construction equipment and vehicles working on the runway during time
limited closure of RWY.
6.4 During runway 09/27 closure, Runway 14/32 is available for operation.
6.6 The scheduled weekly maintenance is on every Sunday for Runway 14/32
between 0530 UTC (1100 hrs. IST) to 0930 UTC (1500 hrs. IST).

8.2 Obstruction lights will available at night as omni-directional fixed red lights at
every 3m interval.
8.3 Taxiways or section of taxiways which are under construction and closed for
traffic will also be marked by yellow crosses at each end of the taxiway or portion
thereof.
9. PRECAUTIONS
During the construction period, pilots are advised to take note of the following
precautions when operating on RWY 09/27:
9.1.2 Presence of spotlights or obstruction lights at the work areas, which should not be
confused with airfield lighting.
9.2 Presence of deep open excavations demarcated by obstruction flags with red and
white checker blocks, and lighted at night by omni-directional fixed red lights
along sections of area beyond RWY 27 RESA. Barricades and red lights to
demarcate the start of the works area on the pavement is placed. The grass area
works boundary is marked by flags.
During the construction period, pilots are advised to take note of the following

9.6 General
During the construction periods, pilots are advised to take note of the following
precautions when taxiing near the work areas as shown in Annexure B2 to B11.
9.6.3 Presence of open excavation demarcated by yellow colour water filled barriers or
red/white flags, and lighted at night by omni-directional fixed red lights along
sections of taxiways. Pilots should exercise caution when taxiing aircraft along
these sections of taxiways. Flags is provided in grass areas.
9.6.4 Presence of spotlights or obstruction lights at the work areas, which should not be
confused with airfield lighting.
10 CONCLUSION
10.1 Any change to the contents of this AIP Supplement is notified through NOTAM.
This AIRAC AIP SUPP will supersede AIRAC AIP SUPP 19/2010.
