Construction Procedures
25

The procedure in constructing the Clap Switch with Light Sensor is

discussed as follows:

1. The first step that we do is to measure the wood (inches) in order to put

together the materials needed then we drill to make holes for the bolts

to fit the outlet using the drill bits. Then we arrange the specific

arrangement of the materials namely receptacle, outlet, wires and plug

by using crew driver and crimping tool.

2. We construct the circuit for clap switch by the help of soldering iron

and soldering led and we put the IC 4017 , led , resistors, Battery with

9v and battery pin attached with it diode, variable resistor, Relay,BC

547, IC 471, Condenser Mic and connectors to there particular places

based on the circuit diagram that we used to make a clap switch.

3. After constructing the clap switch we proceed to make a light sensor

using the materials needed like Breadboard, LDR,BC 547, 50K

Resistor, Led, 1k Resistor, wires, Battery with Battery pin by following

the circuit diagram to make a light sensor using only LDR we put them

to their proper places so that the current will flow properly and

accurately.

4. This part we test the leds if its functioning well as well as the flow of

current if it is reached to the following resistor by using tester the

adjustment also of the connectors to the corresponding destinations.

Because the board that we are using is very sensitive so we should be

26

careful specially from the back part of the board where you can find

and see the connections of the resistors and IC.

Construction Time Frame

A period of time especially with respect to some action or project is

shown in Table 3.

Gantt chart

A Gantt chart is a bar chart that depicts activities as blocks over time.

The beginning to end of the block corresponds to the duration of the project

study.

Try-out and Revision

A number of try-outs were done after the construction of the project.

Before the construction, the layout was meticulously considered to ensure the

fitness of each part. Table 6 shows the defects found during the construction

and the revision made.

sResearch Design

This project uses the method of developmental research. The project

had developed some improvements over a period of time; the study innovates

an existing Clap Switch with Light Sensor that can be used in our home for

convenient and easy life living as technology arises that involves criteria

whether the project is useful or not, functional or irrelevant.

Research Instrument

The research instrument used in this project was a questionnaire which

will be used to evaluate the functionality of the Clap Switch with Light Sensor.

This instrument was used by the evaluators from the faculty members,

students, household, and neighbors to assess the said technology.

Evaluation of the Project

Clap Switch with Light Sensor was evaluated by ten (10) teachers and

five (5) students, twenty (10) neighbors. The project was evaluated by the

respondents through the researcher-made questionnaires that aim to assess

the functionality of the Clap Switch with Light Sensor. The evaluations were

based on the perceptions of the respondents on the functionality of the project

as they observed it during the actual demonstration.

Locale of the Study

The study was conducted at Pantukan National High School,

Pantukan, Compostela Valley.

Data Gathering Procedure

The steps below were followed in the gathering the data necessary for

the study:

1. Letters of request was given to the dean of the school asking

permission to utilize some of the faculty and students as the

respondents of the study.

2. The respondents were visited in their house, school where the

researcher had a demonstration about the project.

3. The questionnaires were distributed to the respondents to test

the functionality of Clap Switch with Light Sensor.

33

4. After the questionnaires were answered, the researcher

retrieved them for analysis and interpretation.

Statistical Treatment

The study used descriptive measures such as weighted mean. To sum

up the highest qualifications of the respondents, percentage of a given

frequency was utilized. The respondents’ evaluations were interpreted based

on the given criteria.
