MATHEMATICS HELPS PREDICT THE BEHAVIOUR OF NATURE

AND THE PHENOMENA OF THE WORLD

Numbers play an important role or part in our society; they are a part of our everyday life.
Like in cooking, appropriate measurements are a must in order to have a balance of flavour,
otherwise it would overpower other ingredients or it would taste bland which can result to
becoming undesirable to eat. Making of clothes is also one, measurements are very important in
making or tailoring of clothes as it makes a person look either incredible or tacky. To save
money, making daily budget for food and transportation and expenses is a must. Simply put,
Mathematics is more than just the formulas and problems found in an academic book, it goes
beyond that

Mathematics is more than a school subject – it’s both a language and a method to analyse
abstract phenomena and nature though detected patterns and regularities. Mathematics can be
used to explain how something recurs in nature. This is the field called "Mathematical
Modelling". An example would be the whole field of Physics, from Newton's Laws of Motion, to
Electromagnetic Equations; these are all mathematical in nature. What happens is, researchers
observe nature and phenomena and try to make a mathematical model that works for their
observation, and makes sense. Basically, they try to generalize, or find a rule, for what they
observe. After that, these models can be used for simulations which help predict what will
happen. But not all models can actually predict the phenomena that will happen in the future.
One researcher said that they could not predict when earthquakes would happen, but that they
could give probabilities, though with the disclaimer that the standard deviation was high. In this
example, even if they can't actually predict when and where disasters happen, the model is very
useful so that they know which places to watch out for.

As we are a growing society, there are actually many things happening right now in our
world with or without the knowledge of many. These behaviours of nature and phenomena can
mean something more great than what we can actually imagine but as we continue to live in this
world there are more phenomena’s to come and with the help of mathematics, we can predict
some of these with the help of the mathematical tools we have but as a reminder not all can be
actually predict but can only help.

As time goes by, there are actually things in which mathematics was used in explaining
how a certain thing happened and one of these is the explanation of why the sun set, where it
went, and why it returned because it was easier to count these events in numbers than to put them
into words. Similarly, formulas become a way of suing numbers to show how things in nature
happen together or oppose on another.

Here are some few examples of how mathematics helps in the predicting the behaviour
and phenomena in this world:
