I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrate understanding of South West Asia literature as an expression of philosophical
and religious beliefs, information flow in various text types, reality, fantasy and opinion in listening and
viewing sources active/passive constructions, direct reported speech perfect tense and logical connectors
in journalistic performance standards.
B. Performance Standards The learner transfer learning by composing a variety in composing and delivering a memorized
oral/speech featuring use of properly information sources acknowledged information sources
grammatical signals for opinion making persuasion and emphasis and appropriate prosodic, features,
stance and behavior.

D. Instructional Objectives At the end of this 1 - hour period, at least 50% of the students who are ready to embrace this 21st-century
teaching will be able to achieve75% proficiency on how to:
1. KNOWLEDGE  Retell the story of the Arabian Folktale “THE WONDER TREE” and identify their culture derived
from the story;
2. SKILL  use various strategies in decoding the meaning of words;
 raise questions about a particular aspect of a material viewed;
3. ATTITUDE  participate in a group collaborative task;
 identify the value from the literary piece in enabling one to grow in personhood and
 appreciate literature as an expression of philosophical and religious ideals

IV. PROCEDURES
A. Reviewing previous lesson or  A song will be played while playing they need to pass around the gift. When the music stops
presenting the new lesson. (KNOW) and to whom the gift was stopped they will answer the following questions that attached at
every side of the gift.
 Students will answer the following questions.
1. What was the last gift you received?
2. What you are usually do when you have a visitor? How do you treat you them?
Do you gave gifts to your guess or visitors?
B. Establishing a purpose for the  Students will watch a video about the culture of Saudi Arabia. Follow up question will be given.

“THE WONDER TREE’

 As they are watching, they need to jot down all the questions that they have
in mind regarding the story.

2. Where the story takes place?
3. What is Desert?
4. Why was the visit of Sheikh Ben Nedi a matter of excitement?
5. Why was Zulieka very sad over the coming visit?
6. Who helped Zuleika find a gift for Sheikh Ben Nedi?
7. What was the gift?
8. What culture of Saudi Arabia emphasize in the story?
D. Developing Mastery  Teacher will show (2 two) different pictures and students need to identify what the picture
(UNDERSTAND) shown about.

(The pictures shows how Arab and Filipinos a like in terms of being hospitable)
E. Finding practical applications of  Group Differentiated Task:
concepts & skills in daily living Group 1- Perform a tableau that’s showcasing hospitality. Then one of their members will explain their
(TRANSFER) tableau. They will be graded based on the rubrics presented.

Group 2- Poster Making .Draw a poster showing the values or moral lesson that they acquired from the
story. Someone from the group will present their output.

Group 3- Character Silhouettes. Student will portray the character’s appearance and manners from the
story that they have read.

Group 4- Retell the story using graphic organizer.

Group 5- Create a 2 stanza poem about “Filipino’s hospitality.”

F. Making generalizations & Students will answer the following questions:


abstractions about the lesson Do you believe that Filipinos are also hospitable same with the Arabs?
(Summary) Cite an example wherein we Filipinos shows hospitality.
 To end the discussion, students will watched a video.

G.Evaluating Learning “TRUE or FALSE”


(Evaluation/Learning Assessment) Direction: Write “SAHIH” if the statement is true and “KHATIA” if it is false.

1. Near out in the desert of Arabia lived a chief called Ali Ben Ahmed and his tribe.
2. Sheikh Ben Nedi has a daughter named Zuleika.
3. Zuleika loves visitors.
4. Desert is a trackless place.
5. Ali Ben Ahmed sat alone and idle because he had no gift to gift to Sheikh Ben Nedi.
6. Zuleikas mother helps her to prepare a gift to be given to Sheikh Ben Nedi.
7. Fairy said that Zuleika will find the gift where her tears have fallen.
8. They have found out that the gift Zuleika is a vase.
9. The whole camp is excited for the incoming visit of Sheikh Ben Nedi.
10. Ben Nedi softly exclaimed “Yes” that is the most precious gift of all for it springs from the
desire of the heart.
