ACADEMIC PRESENTATION

COMPARISON ESSAY OF PRESENTATIONS WITH VISUAL AID

This is an example of a presentation using proper visual aid:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=drv3BP0Fdi8

The presenter used power point as visual aids tool. The slide background is simple and
the colour scheme is similar, so it does not distract the audience. The presenter also does not
put too much text in one slide. Font and font style of the text are easy to read by the audience.
He/she chooses high quality images and animation that relevant to the topic.

In the other side, we also present an example of a presentation with improper visual aid:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UkZAwKoCP8

The presenter overloads few of his slides with sentences and pictures. The text size is
also too small for the audience. There is one slide (09:20) that contain 2 points of material, it
will be better if he only assigns one point of each slides. He also uses two dominant colour
schemes, red and black, red for the main point and black for additional information(s). In some
of his slides such as in (13:13), he presents the point with the diagram picture. It will be a wise
choice to separate the point with the diagram picture, so slide does not look too crowded with
the information. The picture on the left side of the slide in (07:21) was scanned from a book,
but the picture is blur. The presenter has to avoid this matter because the blur picture is
uncomfortable to be read.

We choose both of these videos to represent presentations that use proper and improper
visual aid usage, because both of these presenters are professors that specialize in medical
health and we want to see the differences in how they present their material with visual aid.
